if you use firefox, Install FoxyProxy.
Then add this Proxy Server 132.213.9.222 port 80
You should then be able to watch it directly off of the website.
Got that from US forum kind of like ours...

They're not going to declare an emergency every time one of these things hicups. They're used to it and know what they're doing. Quote
Okay take it easy godsrcrazy, you have to give me the benefit of the doubt that I have a point. Making a judgement call isn't spineless, it wasn't an emergency situation so why over dramatize. On tv of course they're going to make it as dramatic as possible but when it actually happened having the emergency crews on hand wasn't necessary.
Sorry if i come across cranked up but i really am sick of the i did what i did attitude on these forums because i didn't want to get yelled at by the owner our chief pilot etc.

some of the fellows seen have already departed from buffalo and that's par for the course . but lets keep watching to see if the fire bombing parts are going to be shown , the trip to turkey will apparently be shown so maybe the dc-4 tankers will be too.

Pilots kept Leno under the radar
By Alex Strachan, Canwest News ServiceNovember 25, 2009
Some takeoff, eh? Ice Pilots NWT, History Television's bracing docu-reality series about a renegade airline that links remote communities across Canada's north using vintage Second World War-era transport planes, roared to a ratings record last week, with 459,000 viewers.
That was the most viewers to watch a homegrown-series debut in History's history. To put that number in perspective, last week's audience for Ice Pilots NWT topped that of time-slot rival The Jay Leno Show( 306,000), even though Ice Pilots aired on a specialty channel and Leno aired on a conventional broadcast network.
In other words, "Buffalo Joe" McBryan, son Mikey McBryan and the hard-working guys and gals who manhandle DC-3s and DC-4s through some of the world's most frightful flying conditions drew a bigger crowd than Leno's celebrity gossip and chit-chat.
And small wonder. Ice Pilots NWT is a lot of fun to watch, fascinating and entertaining by turns, and a lot easier to watch from the comfort of home than to suffer through in person. As tonight's followup episode shows-- Ice Pilots is scheduled to fly another 12 weeks, right up to the time the Winter Olympics will distract viewers' minds from the weather outside-- the opener was no fluke.
Tonight's episode, Pre-Christmas Rush, finds the mercury dipping below-40, as remote communities in the Mackenzie Valley are running desperately low on supplies. Just as important, families are waiting for their Christmas presents, even as a gruff mechanic and a Curtiss-Wright C-46 flight crew are stranded in a motel room in Norman Wells, with a busted engine outside and a serious case of cabin fever brewing inside.
Ice Pilots NWT is white-knuckle viewing at its best, exciting without being voyeuristic or manipulative. Based on its early ratings, it might also be the biggest homegrown TV success story since Project Runway Canada.
And why not? These runways are real. (History Television--8 &11 p.m.)

Great show again tonight guys!

Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
Liked this episode better than the first one! Seemed like a little less drama and a little more real life.

They do seem like pretty good people up there. I thought the professional alcoholic engineer was a bit over the top, especially the bit where he indicated he'd take a round out of the cameraman if that C-46 didn't start. I just did a completely unrelated documentary with the same director a couple of weeks ago, and if it was the same cameraman for the filming we did, Mr. Glug Glug wouldn't be out of the hospital yet if he'd taken a swing at him. He was about 6'4" 230 pounds and used to be a defensive lineman for the BC Lions.
Kelly in particularly seems to be a hell of a good person.

I wonder if after watching the episode he regretted his comments about switching teams and doing the first officer

No that was an Electra. They don't call that part of the airport "Joeassic Park" for nothing.ourkid2000 wrote:Did I see an Argus at about 1:20 of that time lapse video?

Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
With all this glamour and romance of the north, I wonder what Joe's resume pile looks like now?

Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
Is it just me, or are there any other people who have spent time up north, and after watching this show, kinda want to but not really go back, but much rather stay down here on ei? Also it is so true what the chick said about the company being your family, its the only way to get thru your northern stint.
Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
I have an idea... let's take a menace to aviation and make him look like a hero. Does anybody want to do any research before we go ahead with this? No? OK. Let's go.

The Buffalo Electra has been in Iqaluit (CYFB) a few times over the last 2 years. What a thrill to see it in person.CYOX wrote:No that was an Electra. They don't call that part of the airport "Joeassic Park" for nothing.ourkid2000 wrote:Did I see an Argus at about 1:20 of that time lapse video?

Great show last night. It really showed the stresses the northern ops face. The Electra is a beautiful machine.. My Uncle with A/C started his aviation career in the right seat of one and has shared many stories of those days with me. What a beautiful machine!
Keep up the good work! Im already lookin fwd to next week.
Fly safe all.

Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
I spent about ten years in the bush, including time on the C-46. I will always have the itch to go back I think. Not only because of the real hands on approach to flying but the challenges that comes with operating up there. On tough days the family type atmosphere of working in a smaller company helps for sure. I miss that and the fresh air as well!bigbert wrote:Is it just me, or are there any other people who have spent time up north, and after watching this show, kinda want to but not really go back, but much rather stay down here on ei? Mods: How about making this thread a sticky? At least while the show is on the air??

Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
sticky? yeah, i was just about to start a new thread for the new episode last night. but keepin it at the top for a while sounds easy enough.
Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
I think the show is ...entertaining, and it was nice to see some good shoots of Norman Wells. I was hoping to see some pictures of the boys at North-Wright. The History Channel has done a good job in relating the difficulties of operating a Northern air charter to the average person. The show wasn't targeted towards the people on this web site but it is fun to call bulls**t on the little details.
Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
Did anyone notice the irony in the head mechanic flying up to Norman Wells in a Cessna Caravan to fix the dead C-46? Which brings up the question: why don't they just get rid of these nice looking but unreliable museum pieces that are expensive to maintain and hard to find parts for and replace them with something more modern with turbine engines? (And no, I'm not talking about the new-fangled 1950s Electra!)
Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
New drinking game, anytime the mechanic says anything sexual you have to down what's in your hand
