I would argue that YUL is cheaper overall. Don’t need a car there which would save a ton of cash.
I could be wrong, but last I checked, you will pay more provincial income tax in Quebec; however, if you're needing a vehicle in YYC, then I could see the case for Montreal.
Also, Calgary Transit is pretty good, unless you head out to Airdrie, you’d be fine without a car.

Calgary transat is terrible. From just about anywhere in the city it’s 2 hours to the airport and 2-3 transfers. You need a car in Calgary. In Toronto or Vancouver that is not the case.

Toronto is worse unless you're near an UP Express stop or Kipling station for the 900 bus to the airport. The 52 Lawrence (Dixon) bus to the airport is one of the worst bus routes I've ever experienced anywhere, the "subway" is a joke and is on par with Calgary's trains at best coverage wise. Montreal might be easier getting around the city proper with the metro compared to Calgary or Toronto, but for getting to the airport it's still currently a long bus ride from downtown similar to Calgary. Vancouver is probably by far the best with the Skytrain going right to the airport for super quick and cheap.
Also there's the issue of being seen in public off airport in a pilot's uniform.. some people might not have an issue with that but I'm sure others do

I'm honestly not convinced you have ever taken calgary transit if you think it's better than the TTC

I’ll rephrase, Calgary transit is “ok” depending on where you are.
I was in the NE and NW and relatively close to the airport, I was a 5 min walk to a transit hub and only one bus straight to the terminal, same route back. I guess the main problem was the early check in or after midnight checkouts usually required an Uber, yes now that I think of it you’ll need a car in Calgary, lol but you’ll pay less tax and housing is still one off the less expensive bases.
Anyone got questions they gonna ask in HR Video interview? Mine is coming up in few weeks. Any comments would definitely help.
I understand its all behavioural questions. TIA

YVR is one of the most senior bases for the CRJ.
Is this true for the Q as well? YVR would definitely be tight on an FO salary with the COL, but would be maybe be worth it if an upgrade was quick.
Which bases/equip generally have the lowest upgrades? YYZ Q400?
Looking at the seniority list it seems that YYC Q is the most senior Q base in the system. I know a few pilots on the Q FO side there and they're very happy with the flying they do. Fairly busy!
Re your second question, YYZ Q currently has the most junior Captain in the entire system. Upgrades will depend on the equipment, but generally speaking it's quickest to upgrade in YYZ, YUL, YVR and YYC, in that order.
Thanks, I appreciate the insight. I imagine equipment-wise upgrades would be quickest on the Dh8 and slowest on the E175?

Situational questions like “tell me about a time you were challenged in your role” or “made a mistake outside or inside aviation” they want the specifics and then the result etc.
“Why Jazz and what do you know about Jazz”
“Tell me about when you’ve had to learn about a coworkers culture?”
Proudest accomplishments
Tell us about what experiences you have that prepare you for jazz ?
Tell us about a time you compromised safety on flight
Tell us about a time you stood your ground on an issue or had a disagreement with a coworker?

Quicker upgrade in yvr over yyc, okay so let’s say you’re a YYC FO, if your seniority number can hold it, can you then bid YVR CA ?

Vacancies entirely depend on the seniority list.
I may be wrong and anyone in this forum on the training department can correct me, but I'd imagine the duration of the upgrade itself will depend on the availability of the trainers as well as the flying available for that specific aircraft at the time. If more trainers are available and there are more routes available in that given time frame, a candidate would presumably finish their training faster. Again, this is what I think based on my limited experience.
If you were asking that question with regards to the difficulty of the upgrade, both are equally hard. The upgrade is meant to be difficult and for good reason.
I was more just looking for an idea of what the seniority picture is today (knowing that it is in constant flux). As I type this out, I'm realizing that it's an impossible question to answer though lol... There's so many variables and what's true today is likely not true next month.

Can't speak for other bases, but right now there are CA vacancies on all equipement in YUL, anyone with an ATPL and a pulse will be awarded CA position almost instantly if they bid for it

You can bid for it, however if you are not ready for it... you will be in a heap of trouble! Frozen from re applying for 2 years. Just because you have the ATPL does not guarantee the position is yours... Better to do a year in the right seat before leaping to the left.

I know of at least a few who had an ATPL with 6 months in the right seat who bid it thinking it would be a while before being awarded it, they basically had almost no time since Indoc. Reason being, after line-Indoc you are on reserve and on reserve you could end up not flying depending on how many reserve pilots on your roster.
They also struggled because the reality is, until you hit 500 hours on type, you really don’t know the aircraft all that well, now add in the Captain related training which really focuses on decision making and the COM, some made it through, some did not.

Agree with all of this. I knew of a few of them personally. Being a Metroliner jockey in Man/Ont does not prep you for left seat on a CRJ 3 months after you become an FO on it.

Get the E1 type rating and fire off the resume to porter. Your seniority will climb faster than Trudeau’s new A330 going empty to pick him up.
Edit: Damn it. I meant to put “new A330” in quotes

Jazz seems to have figured that out.
The Jazz e-jet pilot production rate has been reduced substantially.

There was e-jet in the last initial, get that rating go to Porter and yours checks will be bigger than Trudeau’s ex wife’s alimony payments.
