Shitty camera, but a few shots from my first season as a swamper in NWO.

Hey jspitfire,
What kind of exposure and shutter speed settings are you using when taking northern lights shots....im guessing negative exposure, high ISO and slow shutter speeds? Great shots!!
heres a couple from my road trip.... 6mp point and shoot then modified with i photo

Some great shots guys! I've been busy recently with my new (free) scanner! Heres some stuff dug out of my fathers and grandfathers photo albums!!

Not quite sure who this chap is.. but I believe thats a sask. gov machine? Anyone know?

Thats me on the 185 float. IIRC its a tindi machine and somewhere relatively close to YZF. Any ideas??

Also anyone with info on where this machine/company ended up?? same goes for the rest. I'm pretty sure after chatting with Neil Aird that beaver EZT was crashed and is awaiting rebuild..

Seriously, a skidoo! I love the North.
Re: Pix From a Swamper - Remembering Craig Chenell
I use a Canon Rebel, which is pretty much pushed to its limits for northern lights. ISO 800 or 1600, usually at least 30 seconds, and wide open aperture. A Tripod is of course a must as well.duramaxguy wrote:Hey jspitfire,

Re: Pix From a Swamper - Remembering Craig Chenell
Indeed,
We spoke to a number of them today. Combined with the fleet of Bell 47's from Chinook Helicopters, and the two Highland machines training up there, it's quite the high density airspace these days..!
We're even lower than the Conair boys and girls, so it's usually not a problem

An interesting/uncommon sight in Iqaluit today.

Many apologies for the "rippliness" in the photo, it happens to be a exhaust out of the back of a B732.

The guy in the pic is very familiar to a few guys around here but no one can remember his name. It is for sure old Sask Gov colours though as it's a similar paint scheme as my Navajo.Rowdy wrote:

Ignore the dirty gear doors. They were in need of a good scrubbing when I snapped this.
