Hey, Cap'n, you're even starting to tick me off! It's (somewhat) "fair" to have an online insult match with someone who chooses to engage in it with you, but if someone tells you that you hurt someone's feelings, who has absolutely NOTHING to do with this whole thread, and you just can't see THAT...
And here I thought you were just someone who liked stirring the pot.

Capt S&J:
I happen to know you personally and know that you are NOT a reasonable person to deal with. Your remark about the female FSS was rude although you may think you were being nice or complementing her. She may be gorgeous and I would agree that she is attractive but there was no need for the further comment. From everything I have heard you say in the past (in person)...you really do NOT respect women and although you joke on here about putting down women in aviation (or women in general) - I really don't think you see them as equals. It's unfortunate that you are able to voice these completely disrespectful opinions...again this is just MY opinion.
And BTW...you are not the smallest guy around either...what's with the weight remark??

I have tried to stay out of this pathetic discussion.
However as one of the senior members of the Aviation community I must express my dismay that the word " Captain " has been brought down to this level of meaning by what I read here.
As to the comments regarding a female member of our community who has zero to do with this discussion, you are a craven coward to make such remarks in a public forum. And a disgrace to the industry in general in my opinion.

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

S&J :
Your ignorance is once again obvious.
If the allegations that I have made naming the individuals were slanderous, they would have taken legal action against me.

Wow! I clearly do not have the time to maintain currency on the posts here!
SIS and Controlman and other FSSers: I do respect the jobs you all do for us pilots. Of course some of you are better at it than others. FSS is the 'go-to' for accurate, reliable information/data required prior to going flying.
I believe that no-one is above being questioned when there is any doubt as to the clarity of information received/transmitted or as to one's intentions. Having said this, I am displeased with the tone of voice I often find myself being presented with after having been breifed that T-storms/icing may present and I continue to file an IFR flight plan. I have actually had the briefer ask me: "Didn't you hear what I said? Icing is forcast."
This type of query or even just the tone of voice is an attemp to undermine my decision making process regarding the safety of a flight. While I appreciate having things pointed out that I may have missed, I feel that an FSS specialist should not be the one deciding whether I go flying or not. I think that is my decision, and that I'm only asking to be provided with the information I require to make that decision.
It seems to me that I encountered this type of attitude from FSS to a much greater degree in the days following the GGN crash from Pelee. While I'm sure that had some effect on the way a briefer may present a wx scenario, it makes it more difficult for me to make an informed decision about the weather.
Also as I'm sure the arguement about who's working for whom could go on all day, one thing I know for certain; we are all working together to get the job done safely and efficiently.
