FICU. You're such an idiot. Drinking beer by the pool and you call that training. Hope that you enjoy your short fly infested summer north of 60.
And what exactly does a 3 year F/O at Jazz make. WestJet would be a pay increase.

Quite the pontification, too funny. Do our hiring committee a favour and never subject them to an application, mkay sparky?FICU wrote:Wow! If you and Jasta represent the level of quality of new employees at Westjet no wonder so many pals of mine that fly with the likes of you keep telling me how much the enjoyment of the job has declined over the last few years. I remember that Westjet used to be quite discerning on who they hired but now it seems that they hire anyone. Growing pains I guess. Way to go Westjet!jjj wrote:Hey FICU - get stuffed!!!![]()
Hope you enjoy life as a career F/O!
BTW... I am quite stuffed after a fine breakfast thanks.

Prior to Westjet:Flightlevels wrote:that was pretty obvious we aren't leading to the bottom. Every point I made was progressive and positive for us and the industry. Basically he slamed our not paying for a GD hotel room during training and that it took us too long to increase the pay. oh and we don't have enough food.
forrest for the trees.
nothing out of your own pocket to train...
good initial wages...
great benefits...
good pension depending on the type of plan...
excellent on board product... pay for nothing but booze.
a proud profession you that you would encourage your kids to follow.
After Westjet:
pay to train...
low initial wages...
weak benefits...
no pension and ESP that freezes your money for a year...
weak on board product... pay for everything.
pave the way with the LCC model to allow the likes of JetsGo to enter the market with a money upfront bond, the first in a Canadian 705 jet operation...
pave the way for upstarts like Canjet to drastically lower wages...
a diminished profession that you would discourage your kids from following
I'm glad your pilot agreement is getting better and you have fancy new toys on your machines but you aren't the progressive savior you have been brainwashed to think you are. After realizing how much you brought the industry down you seem to be trying to take forward steps which, judging by your remarks, makes you feel good about your company and think you are better than everyone else... bravo!
Now, after seeing what fine colleagues you have working with you, I'm glad Westjet was never in my plans.

and never will be. Good day to you, 'sir'
PS: you forgot to mention how wildly profitable the legacy carriers were before Westjet. Take a shot at it, Einstein, if you think you can.

Re: How Low Will You Go?
still weak ficu,
better start with human factor material then research our new flex plan then head into pension material and see what our rated return is. I guess my high end planner is wrong when he says our esp is amazing and tops any of the best defined or match plan out there. Who am I to believe...him or some stone throwing pilot...hmmm. Your credability deminishes with each post because you can't substantiate your claims and fail to see where we started and where we've come to today. Again my friend, you say we are racing to the bottom...even with the improvements over time. Your wrong. Don't forget that WJ is only 13 yrs old. Good luck to you and your carreer W. Last post for me.

Re: How Low Will You Go?
When did we ever charge for training??
LOL, thats rich. Blame us for Jetsgo.. priceless. I think we had something to do with the Kennedy assassination too
All this 'cause you don't want us in YZF. lol.
I am so done with this lame-o thread.

Re: How Low Will You Go?
Well when I did my initial training I was put up in hotel and got paid full perdiems. A buddy of mine had to find a place to rent and buy his own meals in YYC when he did his initial training 8 years ago at your fine progressive company, with a $35K salary cut. How much did you have to spend of your own money during your initial training?double-j wrote:When did we ever charge for training??
Like it or not your LCC model opened the door in Canada. I guess you could pass the buck down to Southwest.LOL, thats rich. Blame us for Jetsgo.. priceless.
Nothing to do with that whatsoever. Just don't want to see our airline industry end up like the shit show in the US and that's where we're headed. All this 'cause you don't want us in YZF.
Cya!I am so done with this lame-o thread.

Re: How Low Will You Go?
FICU,
What does a first year at your company make?
What was a first year at AC making in the mid nineties prior to WS?
What role did WS play the first time AC drove themselves 13 billion into debt?
Which airlines still only provide training pay vs. a full salary?
When did WS abolish training pay for full salary as of DOH?
What is the pension at your company?
What was the impact of WS on such companies like Canadian, C3 and Royal (to name a few) who were in full force as WS was in it's infancy?
What is the relationship between Royal and JetsGone?
Does the rate of airline failures meet, exceed, or fall short of an average of at least one a year over the last 20 years?
Some good stuff in there to poke some nice big holes in your arguments.
It mostly leads to the conclusion that aviation in Canada has been a shit show for years.
I get it FICU - you don't like us - that is your prerogative.

Let's stop baiting the imbecile. I know who this clown is and he's on the verge of getting laid off, so he has some misdirected anger. It's all our fault. Poor guy.

Re: How Low Will You Go?
Looking at my seniority number you have no idea what you are talking about and we were recently hiring, not laying off.balfour wrote:I know who this clown is and he's on the verge of getting laid off, so he has some misdirected anger. It's all our fault. Poor guy.

Speaking of layoffs... why has there been a pretty strong rumor from Calgary that Westjet was looking to layoff 80-100 pilots?
The amount of slander I have seen here and the way you guys like to rip each other apart on your "Westjet agreement 2" thread shows just what professionals you really are... too bad the co-workers of yours who are indeed professionals have to have the likes of you guys representing them on a public forum. The way I understand it is that if you have an opinion that differs to those that only see through teal colored glasses you are chastised by your co-workers. Nice place!
Maybe this new agreement isn't as progressive as you'd have hoped.

FICU,
When you leave the house today, don't forget your helmet.

Thanks Dave... that's good news. BTW... heard this more than a few times from people with family working at Westjet.DaveP wrote:FICU Wrote:

Interesting! That one never did makes its rounds through the flight deck. It would seem this particular rumour is as cold and lifeless as the bison stew served by one our fine northern airlines.FICU wrote:Thanks Dave... that's good news. Ahhh Dave answers you and you become polite and civilized. Too funny. Hey Dave, hope things are going well.
If you are happy where you are at then be happy. Most of us at WJ are happy too. I have been here a few years and have a very nice home, cars, family and have a very nice lifestyle (for aviation that is hehe) and nothing you can say can change that. Not even your false information about some things. WJ isn't meant for everyone but please do demean my decision for coming here. Its very disrespectful and you don't see me doing it to you. If these guys are bothering you so the gentlemanly thing and walk away....ohhhh that goes for some of us guys too, ok? In the meantime why doesn't everyone just enjoy what they have and quit wasting negative energy on this argumentative crud. I recently lost 2 of my friends this year and have a new outlook and enjoy everything while you have them. Besides you guys are sitting here and arguing and the ironic thing is you are probably drinking buddies that don't even know it! I gotta go do something now. These days off are killin me. Ahhh the sarcasm. Take care all!

Agreed, this thread has been dead for quite awhile and is now just a pissing match between a couple of posters.
Maybe in the same way as the recent Perimeter thread, it's time to shut this one down.
Mods....hello?
