This from the Fly Past 60 website:

"There are, to our knowledge, 122 other pilots in the queue at the CHRT, and another 20 to 30 with complaints at the CHRC level, who are similarly demanding reinstatement of employment. In addition, several other Air Canada employees from other unions have filed similar complaints with the CHRC concerning their forced retirement at age 65. The Tribunal, we are informed, has additional mandatory retirement cases pending from workers in other industries. The fate of their complaints will likely be decided once the Federal Court renders its decision on the judicial review of the Vilven-Kelly Tribunal decison of August, 2009. That case is scheduled to be heard by the Court in two weeks (four days of hearing commencing November 22nd) and the decision is expected to be rendered in February or March of 2011."

Think of these numbers before you quit your present job, although the CHRT did make it clear that their ruling applied only to Vilven and Kelly, and a cease-and-desist order was not granted against AC.

What are the provisions in the AC CBA regarding the layoff of pilots currently on the probationary period? What are the reinstatement rights? How long is the probation period?

Any info would be much appreciated.

What I don't understand why PIC time on small turbines gets you in ahead of people that have more right seat time on a large jet? You know people that have all the requirements to be a jet PIC but want to go to AC.

Interview and medical both finished. They called my current company. Just wondering how good a sign this is and how long it usually takes for the next step from here.

Thanks all for the help...

In the last round, that was the last step. If your employer gets the call your chances are good you will be hired... unless they didn't like ya!

I just got the call to Interview in December and would appreciate any info regarding the process and type of questions. Yes I have been researching on AvCanada and using this info, I am just trying to find more detailed and up-to-date information from the interviewing done this year. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Showing vacancies for 7 more positions across the system on the December equipment bid on top of the 51 on the last bid. Should be an additional 2 classes in early 2011.

7 new positions, but they also needed to fill in for retirements. That's the 61 people, + the 50 some odd from last bid for a total of somewhere around 110.

Thats my questions, is it a total like 51+61 or a rolling number;or, interpreted as we hired 20, now we can hire 61 more Ie/ 81 total?

People with a greater knowledge of the system than me will no doubt pipe up here. My belief is that this 61 is in addition to the number posted before.

The 61 new positions on this bid are in addition to the 10 new hires that already started this past November and are now showing as active on this bid...So in other words "71" total new hire positions since hiring began...10 already on the property...61 still to come...

Cheers!

Wasn't there some people who started ground school last week though? So that would make it 81?

The latest bid only shows the 10 New Hire's from November...The December crs is not included therefore those positions still show as vacant...So basically you've got 61 open positions, subtract 8 for the December crs; 53 new positions still remain open...

Cheers!

Jazz guys were hired, and those were the only ones with 705 time. All the other ones that we've seen have only been 703 drivers, and 2 or 3 704. Guess we all leave our Dash Capt positions and head down to the King air's!!!!!
