Great pictures BRD. That Otter with the Orenda, is it AZX or EYY, do you remember?

That's the only pic of the Orenda V8 powered Otter I could find off hand (might have something more on a disk in storage), so no remembering of the reg. (alas)

Yes, it was remarked by the dock cognoscenti that there was a distinct lack of clothing going on and none of the women present swooned either... :D

BRD your photos are beauties.

You have any information about the Beech 18 with
the animal painted on the nose?

I notice it has counter weight props and the photo
was taken before spar modes were required.

Thanks again for posting the photos.

just texted Bill and asked. He said that 18 was an RCMP bird...late 50's. Their other airplane up there was a DC-3 with JATO bottles on it.

Airliner's don't do it for me, with respect to chasing iron ... but this bad ass plane makes me want to work for Furgo. (Back to the DSLR...) -- So for my 1000th post on AvCanada, I give you more pic's from a "swamper" ;)

What are those black cable like thingies hanging around the plane ?

And is there some kind of bomb hanging in the belly, next to the orange floating device (or is this something else as well) ?

New geo-surveying plane unveiled
Identical to plane that crashed in Saskatoon

Fugro Airborne Surveys is unveiling their new geo-surveying plane – identical to the one that crashed on a Saskatoon street back in April -- before it takes to the sky.

"We've decided that after three months we should get back operational again," said Terry McConnell, the managing director for Fugro.

McConnell says they've tried to address any tangible safety issues with the plane, including modifying emergency response procedures in case of an engine failure.

However, he said it's not an easy task considering investigators still aren't completely sure what caused the crash that killed a Fugro employee from Ontario, 47-year-old Iaroslav Gorokhovski.

McConnell says his death has made the unveiling of the new plane an emotional event for the company.

"But I think Slavo would have wanted us to get back operational once we've gone through the process of ensuring that we had a safe operation."

If not fitting for this thread, may want to move to general or pics.
McConnell insists he's not worried about any negative stigmas surrounding the company, saying his pilots are comfortable with the aircraft and that Fugro continues to learn from the tragic event.
