Concordeski? Definitely sounds like fun, but misses the turboprop checkbox by a little.schnitzel2k3 wrote:Tu-144 (never flown but looks like a helluva lot of fun)
I was thinking more along the lines of the Tu-95

Fast, loud, and probably going to be the only one of the type at your airport (assuming you're in north america). The Tu-114 was the passenger version, but I think I would like a Bear to take me there!

If I run into problems importing my Soviet nuclear bomber (what could possibly go wrong there?), the rice rocket would be a reasonable alternative.Sulako wrote:Mitsubishi MU-2 ftw

Very fast, very loud, and room for everything.

Omg lol. The pc12. Why you ask. Well 5000 pic and never once worried about holding an legit alt., there was always 1 around within 1000 miles. As a personal plane though one does have to give serious consideration to the new piper meridian 600 that new wing and extra 90gal of jet fuel now give the plane some serious range / payload options. Where before the m500 was pic and a feather weight female pass and a tooth brush with full gas. Ps respect all the options put forth so far, but if you not quite at citation mustang or embraire 100 level. you want to get away for the weekend with your wife, honey or (squeeze) and a couple of sets of golf bags. Family dog that is not a schitzu and not bankrupt the estate in the process. A Used series nine Pc12 or m600 would surely fit the bill. / cheers. And if you have 12. Would love to fly one again. PC 12... Landed at buttonville , on a bearskin sched run from Ottawa, in a snowstorm, landed on 24 and made the turnoff on RWY 33, with 6 passengers on board (I was a passenger) ... Lands on grass,,,, decent speed, and 3000 feet is plenty... So just about every airport in NA works.... Cool.

A variation of this question was the only thing that kept me warm for two winters on the ramp in Rankin Inlet. Thankfully the Northern store sells Lottomax tickets.
My mission would be flying the YRT-YOW-YVP triangle with my three kids and wife. Originally, I had thought of a Quest Kodiak or Caravan on wheels so I could go fishing at Ferguson Lake once in a while. I figure that the relatively slow speed would help with currency requirements for insurance and if I could afford the Kodiak, then what else would I have to do but fly for eight hours?
But, one day, when it was -40 and the winds were 40 knots and the queen mattress I was trying to pull out of the ATR blew away, it occurred to me that it might be nice to spend more time with the in laws in Tofino. Could the Kodiak handle the Rockies a few times a year? Maybe pressurized might be the way to go. By the time we found the mattress and dragged it back on the ramp, I was set on a King Air 90. Preferably with glass and a potty.
It's a real conundrum.

You guys just don't get it. Best fishing machine, most fun, land anywhere is the Hughes 500. Nothing compares.
Case closed.

Well, since you said turbo prop I have to go with the Pizza. In my limited experience it was the best. Pluses are power, speed, agility, ride quality, PSID, ceiling, fuel efficiency, hot wing, quiet cabin etc. Minuses, well, you know them already, maintenance, runway requirements, payload, range and cost.
If you broaden the topic to include turbo-_____ then I would have to include my present bird. Mind you it is made by the French but they did a good job. It has all the pluses of the Piaggio with a few extras, like path stability, FBW, side stick and therefore dinner table, EVS and a bunch of other gadgets. Minuses would still be payload (with full tanks), Range (too much now), and the fact that no matter how hard I try, I won't be able to take my family for a rip in one.

Oh and I forgot to mention. I apologize if my selections ruffle the feathers of the bush crowd. To each their own.
