Cyyz,
You're right and I am wrong. Women should have no choice in life, stay at home with the kids, make my dinner, and if she should stray a good old fashion stoning in the streets. Well maybe not so old fashion, still happens in a few cultures thoughout the world. Yep, they're the lucky ones.
My point was that the Fiberals will probably maintain a minority government and for no other reason than a large majority of the people in this country feeling like Mrs. Bandaid does about the Conservatives. Fiberals are due to be plucked, we just need to find a viable leader in either oppositon.
You know it might be a different Canada if the west had any say at all about who would rule this country but it has always been the east with the balance of power that shapes the future.

if someone stayed at home
Nope I'm serious, before you had a parent at home making the family breakfast, lunch and dinner.

You'd have the parent spending time with the kids.

Today, both parents work, no time for good home cooked meals, everything is order in or take out.

Kids aren't going to the sports, they come home, and play on the computer because no one is home to supervise.

It's always good to have a parent at home looking after the home/family.

But please, go ahead and let me know how it's better to have both parents working overtime, kids not getting any attention and the family having maybe a couple of home cooked meals together?

It was a loaded answer, I'm sorry... =) Yes, they will maintain another minority gov't because, well, some people(women are 51% of world) didn't think a women had the right stuff..

"first female prime minister.." She was also the "First women Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada" as well as "First woman Minister of National Defense and First women elected leader of the Conservative Party
Funny that.. =)

PS. once Quebec seperates the west will have plenty of say. =)

So that's why the Conservatives don't care if Quebecers vote for the Bloc, as long as they don't vote for the Libs.

As for me.. Well, Bandaid and Birddog covered it pretty well.

If you ask most voters what the various party platforms, policies or ideologies are, the majority would not be able to tell you correctly, because they don't know. Lack of knowledge is ignorance. As such, most voters are ignorant when they vote, and are making "uninformed decisions".

I'm not always the best at explaining myself. I hope this helps.

no, I get that...

But that makes them ignorant, but their decision, we have a two party system in canada, in 1990 the platform for the liberals was "we'll get rid of the GST" and more, but that's all everyone heard, and all they remembered was "NAFTA from the cons" so they all voted liberals, what happened, liberals - "ah, yeah, we actually added the numbers wrong, so, uh, no, you guys keep paying GST..."

We all have left and right tendencies, you might like abortion but hate the death penalty, or the other way around, well which one do you like more?

With our two parties minus Quebec and their bloc* you're left with option A, or option B, the platforms don't matter because they'll be adscamming with different people. instead of 1billion dollar gun registries you'd have some other crazy billion dollar idea.

And since everyone here(ontario) is scared of change(lol) and they're scared of the "hill-billy" conservatives they all vote for option B, liberal, they don't know what any of the parties are about but they'll just vote liberal.

The liberals don't need a platform and they would still win in Ontario.

Actually, yeah, I think it's just ontario,

*stereotypical regionalists replies*

Quebec knows, - "Seperation, and screw canada, give me"
East Coasters know - "liberals give us welfare"
Westerners know - "liberals will screw us"
Ontario ??? - Liberals will screw us but hey, it's better to get screwed by someone then have someone, who's a hill-billy, improve your situation.

So, conclusion, Ontario is full of idiots.

The cons "might" "might" be able to win if they ran on, "we'll give you $1000 each if we win" and even that, I'd still think the liberals would win.

IMHO, instead of calling everybody who's not a Conservative an idiot, they should work on making themselves more palatable to Ontarians and Easterners. Rightly or wrongly, people in those parts of the country don't like Harper. The solution is not to call those people names, as that may make them feel better but ultimately it doesn't improve their situation.

They need to find a leader who appeals to all of Canada. The Liberals are where they want them, but they've gotta have the right person to pull the trigger. If they loose now, they'd be pulling a Kerry.

No, they just need to win Ontario and few extra ridings here and there...

Haven't you been listening, it doesn't matter what everyone thinks, all that matters is Ont and Que, and ontario still gets the short end of the stick, after they waste their votes on liberals....
people in those parts of the country don't like Harper.
Exactly, they need to drop their loser Albertan leader and his loser Easterner side kick and put in a Mike Harris born and bred ontarian in there so they sweep ONTARIO!

As much as it's called a "federal" election, the party needs to cater to one demographic, all they need is their vote and they win... Ontario....

Ah well, maybe next time they'll figure it out.

It's about time Canadians make an informed decision for their own sake.
We know the Liberal party is corrupt beyond our comprehension, I think we can't use ignorance as an excuse now

As for fear of the Conservatives I don't see how any party could put women back anywhere, Give Me a Beak!

From this discussion, I think I understand Ontarions alittle better now, they don't want a Conservative party because its a Western Party, oh ho! If not then, is it because they don't want traditional values and they'd rather have the corrupt government. Personally, I'd rather not give a cent of my paycheck to the government, Anymore.
The fair thing to do now would be to have a Western Party, since there never has been one. Hope not everyone been brainwashed by the Libs?

It would be more accurate to say that Ontarians don't want Stephen Harper to be the leader of this country. I don't think there's such a stigma against the Conservtives that there was against the Reform Party/Canadian Alliance, it's just that for a large portion of the people I talk to, and indeed myself, Stephen Harper does not represent what people here want in a leader. People didn't like him here when he started on the national scene, and since he's been in Ottawa I think he's become less popular here.

In all honesty, posting about how you "understand" Ontarians because you think they prefer corruption to "traditional" values (apparently all 12,000,000 of us think along the same lines..) doesn't do anything to help persuade people who disagree with you, it just lets people who already agree with you pat you on the back and reassure you that big, bad Ontario is responsible for all that's wrong in the country.

Coincidentally, and unfortunately, Harper's main campaign strategy goes along those lines as well. I know, he's the leader of the opposition, but I don't decide who I vote for based on how well they complain about the incumbent, and Harper seems short on actual dialogue; probably because what he does say so rarely goes over well in Ontario.

Everybody knows that if the Conservatives can make inroads in Ontario, that's it for the Liberals. I just don't think Harper's going to make many gains here.

Kim Campbell didn't do the women of Canada any favours. She was a total and complete failure as a justice minister. I can still see her thumbing her nose at Joyce Millguards impassioned plea before the cameras to free her wrongfully convicted son. What's the next statement out of her gob in caucus?... "we don't need another Guy Paul Morin in this country". :vom: Some justice minister. I can't think of a worse woman in Canadian politics

It's not like she was voted to be the first female prime minister.

So, women should stay out of politics?? =)

Campbell vs Parish, hrmm, No, I'd stick with blonde.

I think Magna girl should have stuck it out as PC, and ran for leader, Ontarian, Chick(as long as you get the backwater folks to vote for a women despite their culture) she'd probably get a few extra seats in ontario for them.

Parrish speaks from the heart not the head so she can be forgiven. She was kicked out of caucas before she could do too much damage. Not so with Kim Campbell. Campbell set the new standards for selfishness and conceit. The conservative party never recovered after her time in office. -Didn't Brian Mulroney tell Kim Campbell to keep her pecker up? Too bad she didn't have the balls to go with it .
I think the Conservative party should thank their lucky stars to be rid of Belinda Stonish. She's another Kim Campbell in the making. IMHO.
Women should go into politics just not these kind of women.

If you want to see what the Conservatives did for aviation in Canada do a search on the cancellation of the Avro Arrow. Another example how a religious zealot can effect a positive outcome for the future of a country.
