Thanks, professor. Allow me to re-phrase: “Approximately how far is a Cessna 182 capable of gliding from a cruise altitude of 8,000 feet above sea level down to the surface at approximately 600 feet above sea level?”
I've never flown a Cessna 182, but I do have a computer that I used to google the answer!

It seems that ignoring the prevailing winds would give you an approximate glide distance of 1.5nm/1000ft. If you take 1.5 and multiply it by 7.4 then you would have a gliding distance of around 11.1 nm.

I hope that was more helpful than my initial attempt!

Gracias, though to be fair I kind of expected someone with 182 experience to know the rough glide ratio off the cuff. Good on ya I guess for rolling up your sleeves and researching.
