I'm interested what the pay is, this job has been posted on this forum more than once in the last 18 months. Not exactly a ringing endorsement for how desirable it's claimed to be.

Considering the dual type requirement and "additional duties" it better be deep into the 200s...

Rothesay and Quispamsis are beautiful towns to live in and are close to the airport. Commute could be less than 15 minutes and no traffic lights to deal with. They have repeatedly been regarded as some of the safest towns in Canada. Great place to raise your kids. I have read that some people consider New Brunswick the forgotten Maritime province I can’t imagine why. The city of Saint John is Canada‘s first industrial city if I recall, it’s beautiful to walk around and they have and dozens dozens of cruise ships come in every year in the summer and fall. Lots of amazing markets through the summer and fall months. If you ride a motorcycle you can go in any direction with knobbys or street tires. Coffee shops, pubs, bistros, café galore downtown are great. I don’t know why people are so hard on the city. 15 minutes of driving on the 401 yikes! You couldn’t pay me enough to move to Toronto.

Ad has now changed to 200gt and Kodiak Pilot. 3 weeks on 1 off. During the full time kodiak pilots week off one of the GT pilots will cover the Kodiak. Eventual move to the Falcon. 200-300 hrs per year. King air travels about a 1 hr radius. Mostly Mon- friday. Mostly a week scheduled in advance, occasional short notice pop up but likely just “drop some people in halifax and come home” done for the day by 9 am or something like that. They were non specific as to pay “north of 100 commensurate with experience” for this new ad. Felt like “what you can negotiate”.

Any of the Irving flight departments would be a great gig. BUT they can afford to be picky, looking for a person that will be the right fit for the job. I know some of the people at all the Irving flight departments and by far a majority are great people, and amazing job security. As for Saint John and surrounding areas, I think it's great! But I'm biased as I grew up here. If you are interested in a bit slower pace of life Saint John has that! BUT if you grew up and thrive in the big cities of Toronto or Vancouver you may get bored very easily here. I moved away after college, lived in Saskatoon, Winnipeg, and did lots of work based out of Toronto, Montreal, Victoria and a few others, and was happy to move back home.

Job security is mentioned several times, but Arthur Irving just passed away and it's been mentioned in several articles that the remaining family members are considering divesting themselves of parts of the company. Something to keep in mind.

Irving Oil which Arthur was running is a separate entity and flight department to JD Irving.

There is 3 Irving flight Department at the Saint John Airport. There's also Ocean Aviation, they are another Irving Family Corporate Flight Department.
