Except the Airport Authorities/NAV Canada/CATSA are who are being referenced. These are monopolistic socialist Government institutions with no competition in the market. They answer to no one, have no accountability and pass off their incompetence to the airlines who shoulder the blame and pay for their shortcomings.TheAlcalde wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 10:53 amThe CEOs job isn’t to ensure a good product. What have these people actually done to earn that raise? To make travel more efficient and affordable. All they have done is make it more expensive, higher departure fees, landing fees, gate fees, parking and make it less efficient with cuts to operational staff, more procedures, more restrictions, pdc bs, escalators that never work...
And that's just day to day, never mind the complete lack of resiliency in their systems of operation.
To me that ought to be dismissed, not lifted up.

Re: To the Airlines
Then again, exactly how are airports to blame for Sunwing’s continuing soap opera in Mexico? Still ongoing….

Re: To the Airlines
This is so frustrating to watch. These airport authorities like yvr can afford a new fleet of brand new vehicles every 2 years, 50' high glass walls that cost an arm and leg to heat/ cool, fountains, art, etc. Yet they still have one guy running ramp, ground, and tower, still have flow control on vfr days, ran out of deice fluid 1 hour into a storm that was forecasted 4 days prior, and had no plows to keep taxiways clear. We routinely have to tanker from everywhere because they have no jet fuel, we have to be there at 4 am for the shuttle because the train to templeton doesn't run until 6, but we still have to pay for the worst service of any airport in the country, and we can't seem to transition to cost and time saving RNP approaches.
Re: To the Airlines
Ramp/Tower/Ground/flow control would be a NavCanada complaint - not YVR.
The SkyTrain not running would be a TransLink complaint - not YVR.

Re: To the Airlines
The continuing Sunwing fiasco is a good reminder. Myself and wife had an unpleasant experience with them 5 yrs ago, we never used their services again and the current horror stories is certainly despicable , perhaps this will lead to their demise. I wouldn’t be bothered by it.rookiepilot wrote: ↑Tue Dec 27, 2022 5:32 pm Must be the passengers fault. Just must be.
Every delay, weather event, even every accident, is the fault of those cheap stingy passengers.![]()

Re: To the Airlines
Except that YVR is the customer who decides how many ATC they are willing to pay for to provide ANS.
Who pays transLink for the sea island train? Yup YVR, that's why staff still have to pay when they leave the island. Try getting minimum wage transit dependent workers to show up at 4 am for work knowing they have to pay $40 for an uber to get to work. This is what happens.
And yes they buy whole new fleets of cars every two years. They have a parking lot full of them, it's how they get around the law that a not for profit can't show a profit.
Re: To the Airlines
Share value? The airports and NavCanada are non-profits.TheAlcalde wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 10:53 amThe CEOs job isn’t to ensure a good product. They’re there to maximize revenue and share value. In both cases the CEOs are there to run an efficient and effective operation for the good of all stakeholders, pax, airlines, community, etc.
But they don't, they overinflated their budgets (and therefore their salaries) and blow it on vanity projects that don't improve the core of the operation.
