Airspray colours have traditionally been yellow and black. Is this a new scheme or just the remains of the old Air Atlantic colours ?

Is it just me or is that tanker 90 which is an electra??? Tanker 50, if memory serves me right is a DC-6.. Could be wrong, it's happened a few times before..

Tanker 50 is a Conair DC6 operated in the Yukon. How many 188's does Airspray have now?

I'm no expert... but I think you may be right - it looks a little more Electra-ish. ???
Electra:
DC6 (having trouble putting it in as an image for some reason, so it's a URL):

and this shows the nose profile of the DC6 a little better:

Here in BC, the forecast is as good as it gets! So hopefully this is the end of our boredom and the beginning of our winter beer fund. It's good to see the sun again.

Port Renfew (SW Vancouver Island) had a fire on Saturday! 4 Firecats and 1 Mr.Mars hammered it out. The drop exits were out over the shore, what a view! Hopefully the targets keep coming
Airspray landed a 690 gear up in Fort McMurray on Saturday, sounds like the pilot did a go-around, then forgot the gear on the 2nd attempt.

Pretty quiet in Alaska and if it doesn't start in the next week, I suspect we'll be helping out CLguy the week after that.

Another real busy today in Ontario. Worked with 2 Manitoba 215's today on a fire west of Red Lake. The 415's blew the doors off one of the 215's, literally!!!!
Maybe one of the Manitoba guys can tell us more about it. Anyway the waterdoor was recovered from the lake by a helicopter. Not sure of the damage to the hull but the door looked in pretty good shape, considering!!

Oouch! I am guessing that the crew and airplane are okay. We are coming home CLguy as of today and should be there in 2 days.

Them 215 guys should have had me make 'em a door hinge like the OMNR did. Well, the hinge I made was for their custom Twotter floats.
I have a nice picture of the finished product, but part of the blueprint is visible in the picture, and it would be illegal to reproduce the print.
A little difficult to clamp, but a few tricks of the trade, and she was rock solid.

The action is on in BC and Alberta. Fires are everywhere. But with good comes bad. One of Conair's 690's was damaged by large hail on Tuesday, grounding the aircraft. The aircraft has large dents and a cracked windscreen. The Alberta 690's are not having good luck this year!

More fire fighting here in BC again on Wednesday. An 802 airtanker crashed at Kamloops just after 5pm. The aircraft lost power and didn't quite make the runway, the pilot is untouched, but the aircraft was severely damaged. Let's all be safe out there!

Glad to hear the pilot is OK. Seems to be a fair bit of bent metal across the country this season already. Hope this isn't a trend starting. Lets keep it safe!

Been real busy in the
GAP working with group 2 out of Meadow Lake SK. Sure is weird for this NWO boy, fighting fires in farm country.

The Cold Lake fire has been keeping us hoping. 271 & 273 layed down 250 loads 2 days ago between them. We had the fire stopped but with big winds from the south yesterday the fire escaped and took a big run. Worked the Gull fire for 2 days before that out of PA and had a nice intial attack yesterday with group 2. Group 2's three trackers layed down 3 loads each and 271 and 273 killed the middle.
Stay safe everyone

Yesterday wasn't a good day for the Europeans!
A Greek Air Force 215 went down yesterday to the south of Athens. Both pilots are unharmed and were picked up by Air Sea Rescue. Aircraft sank in 130 meters of water. No further details for now.
The BE-200 leased by the portuguese government on a trial basis, flew into the trees after a scooping run at the Aguieira dam (the scene of an Italian 215 accident in 2004). One engine ingested a tree and blew up, causing extensive structural damage. The crew was able to fly to an AF base (Monte Real, on the coast); no injuries were reported. Fuel spilled causing several fires.

From an e-mail I received yesterday, newspaper article in regards to the Greek 215:
Firefighting plane sinks; pilots safe
A Canadair water-dropping plane sank off the isle of Patroklos, south of
Attica, yesterday after it was hit by a massive wave as it was refilling its
tanks while helping fight a fire.
The two pilots, who were not hurt, evacuated the plane as it was sinking.
The CL-125 plane sank at about 9.40 a.m., authorities said. It was involved
in efforts to put out a fire on the island of Kea, off the Attica coast.
A Super Puma helicopter picked up the two men from the site of the incident
under difficult weather conditions, seamen said.
Two frigates tried to tow the plane to safety but failed because the
aircraft had taken in a lot of water.
Even if the plane is pulled out of the water, it may not be usable,
authorities said.

Lots of smoke and flames around Quetico Park near the Minnesota border, Saganaga Lake seems to be the biggest one right now and sounds like the bombers are working it. Hot and dry for the near future and predictions of drought conditions prevail.
