Never heard of that but even if true this is not a bond, a bond is money out of pocket to cover the cost associated with training.
AC low pay is in fact closer to a bond in effect where you cover the training cost with low first year pay, except they stretch it over four years just to make sure you really want to be there(tongue in cheek)
The answer to the question, it has been discussed but AT was barely making money in the boom years, now significant debt and things likely slowing down, there is risk associated with this. The Porter feed agreement could definitely help in that but again Porter is still an experiment and whether they can fill 50 never mind 75 or 100 fins is up for debate. Also, there is a rumour floating around the Porter flight ops is telling their pilots they are eyeing their own widebody fleet(carrot dangled) which would make an agreement with AT moot and no longer needed.
Please read carefully. I never said bond. I said pseudo bond… a way of keeping pilots from going directly to the competition with the training they received at AC. This is a thing at Air Canada.

I don’t believe so. A lot of laid off AC pilots took their 767 type rating to cargojet during the pandemic.

I thought the "real" PPC was at the 1-year mark, hence restricted for a year?

I assume you are using the definition of pseudo which is resembles or imitates, which again it does not. It does not keep you at AC, you lose nothing by leaving, if you find a better paying job that has the same type, even if not transferable which I believe they are anyhow but let’s say for argument they aren’t, you still have the training which any company would appreciate.
If you lose nothing by leaving, then you aren’t bonded by any definition you want to use, pseudo or not.

I’m not sure what that means, you cannot operate an aircraft for commercial use carrying passengers without a “real” PPC

Nothing like this exists. Rating is given and enforced by TC.

Exactly, the checkers do not work for the company when administering the PPC, they are representing T.C.

It is NOT a thing. I have an EA32 (A320) type rating in my licence book which I received after completing my type training at AC. That and maybe your personal logbook is all you need to take to another operator for a job flying the same type. Simple as that.

It's true. I was once offered a job there, but they wanted me to sign a bond. I just wanted to get the type rating to increase my chances to go to

AC. Not to be stuck there for a few years! It's extremely unfair companies prevent employees rights to come and go as they please. Plus there is

a lot if shills at AT. AC is where it's at, it's even worth it for the flat pay that pays less than any other carrier.
Now you know why companies have bonds.
