Yes a handful of the senior FOs upgraded, all went well.

I don’t particularly know how it went but these guys clearly made it through the upgrade training so I’m gonna say good.

More to come I’m sure. DEC hiring has stopped. It’s all transfers and upgrades for a while, I would say

Yes the program was not approved yet, so quoting like a bump because now a few have gone through.

Yes good point. Sorry, did not mean to sound aggressive.

It’s approved now. Things are moving albeit a little slow. There has only been one class of E2 FOs to CAs thus far and that class was 4 people

One non-Q FO was apart of the last upgrade class, the other 3 were former Q Capt-E2 FOs in the 4K seniority level. He is Vancouver based, seniority 9K. E2 Class 1 directs were seniority 7K for perspective. Vancouver, for now, is a very junior base. I think current hiring seniority numbers for class 27/28 are 12K.

Alot of the e2 fos are upgradable and there is a large amount of q capts that have not been moved over yet with higher seniority. They are struggling to fill q upgrade groundschools. Pretty sure everyone here can read the writing on the walls of what's going happen.

I suppose they could require a bunch of transport category pic for e2 captain. Basically forcing people to go q400 captain for a bit first. On the flip side of that coin, they also might as well give every e2 FO a helping hand with their AC application. As discussed in the other thread, it's a pay cut to go e2 FO to q400 captain. Also the reward of working harder for the less money too.

It's time. Seems like they've created a system where people are forced out the door, or into an undesirable position. They're trying everything except making the q400 position more desirable. Hopefully proper negotiating resources can help sort out the mess.

I have not heard of anyone actually going from E2 to Q Captain. It makes no sense and I believe the company knows it but will 100% push anyone towards it if they inquire. It's also sketchy to send someone with no Q time to be PIC when everyone knows flying an E2 is much less complex/demanding.

Agree with them pushing pilots away at a fast rate. Biggest problem is the insane penny pinching happening and constantly degrading QofL. Apart from expats who have a few years left, there are only a handful of pilots considering staying and only due to their seniority. Any recent hires are off to or already at AC. This place has tons of work and money to put into making it a career destination.

Still rolling. Classes I believe through January - 20-25 candidates. Dash Captain/FOs and external FOs. No DECs.

Still rolling. Classes I believe through January - 20-25 candidates. Dash Captain/FOs and external FOs. No DECs.
Supposedly this December class was supposed to be the last until spring time next year with the pause on deliveries, but with the current E2 FO/Q captain attrition I’d be interested to see what happens

The company has not disclosed when the benchmarking will be announced. However, there is a pilot virtual call scheduled for tomorrow and historically, December has been when they announce the changes.

There will be two different “contracts”.

The financials will be the same for both. However QOL changes will differ and will be voted on.

AC attrition go brrrrr in the meantime though. Be interesting to see if this blows up in their face. With all the cold calling CS is doing right now trying to staff flights seems kinda ballsy.

Does anyone think porter pilots will make significant gains in the new contract? Is it going to focus more on FOs (since they are losing FOs)?
