What kind of existing issues do you see Encore have at the moment?dontcallmeshirley wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 4:01 pm 34 captains (21%) left so far this year with many other experienced FOs. Several others have accepted offers but have not given notice yet. Even more are actively interviewing elsewhere. There is an issue at Encore and it is being ignored by management.
If you want to join Encore, understand that you will not flow to mainline and your WestJet career will start and end at Encore.

It's a deadend job now for those joining up. As long as you see it for exactly that then there's worse places to be. Get in, get out, go to AC. If your goal is to be at WestJet then start at Jazz.ethernet123 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 5:33 pmWhat kind of existing issues do you see Encore have at the moment?dontcallmeshirley wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 4:01 pm 34 captains (21%) left so far this year with many other experienced FOs. No viable option to carry your career from Encore to WestJet. The current "guaranteed flow" number is 20 per year. That means that by the time the first group flows next year, they will have been at Encore 8 years. With around 350 pilots on the roster, it will take nearly 18 years at this rate, but when you do flow, you will go bottom of the list behind the 18 years of pilots who started at WestJet before you.ethernet123 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 5:33 pm What kind of existing issues do you see Encore have at the moment?
There is also a poor relationship between management and pilots. There is a number of pilots who are upset after being threatened with termination for booking off when sick. The motto of the administration team is that of "beatings will continue until morale improves."
On top of that, there are concerns regarding the safety of the aircraft. There have been three catastrophic engine failures in the past year and a half plus two shutdowns due to false fire indications. This might be a benefit if you think that a Q400 looks cool with afterburners. The majority of the aircraft are being dispatched with 5+ defect deferrals because the AMEs are understaffed and overworked.
Encore recently sold a dozen or so Qs because they can't fly them, so the once largest operator of the Q is now fourth on the list, unless you subtract the 3 that are sitting in YYC and YLW with no engines, which puts them at #5.

There's approximately 5 Encore planes sitting in YAM too, all openings are taped up and covered for long term storage.dontcallmeshirley wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 6:29 pm Encore recently sold a dozen or so Qs because they can't fly them, so the once largest operator of the Q is now fourth on the list, unless you subtract the 3 that are sitting in YYC and YLW with no engines, which puts them at #5.

I’m shocked they haven’t ripped out all the parts yet.goingnowherefast wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 12:20 pmThere's approximately 5 Encore planes sitting in YAM too, all openings are taped up and covered for long term storage.dontcallmeshirley wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 6:29 pm Encore recently sold a dozen or so Qs because they can't fly them, so the once largest operator of the Q is now fourth on the list, unless you subtract the 3 that are sitting in YYC and YLW with no engines, which puts them at #5.
