Turboprop only, unless from Porter Dash, need not concern themselves with DEC on the E2.

From a source within Training, there are no DEC classes until the foreseeable future. The Upgrade programs (both from Q4 Captains/E2 FOs to E2 Captains) are on the go.

Unlikely to see DEC in the near future. Delivery delays are true, but also transfer from Q to E2 and just plain upgrades from FO are now in full swing.

Curious, what is the percentage of FOs that qualify for the upgrade and what matrix do they use for that?

I didn’t mention the DH8 operation, only the E2. So yes there is likely around 50 FOs who qualify (these would be highly experienced individuals who were previous 705 captains elsewhere or Porter).

DH8 capts sliding over I have no idea to the E2, I have no idea what possible numbers are.

Wasn't there a comment in the recent pilot communication that they will run out of upgradeable FOs by mid year? So that could lead one to believe that we can expect DEC hiring to start up again around that time.

I mentioned the Dash because there are several former Dash Captain's who bid right seat E2, who are upgrading and would fall under a different row in the matrix.

Being experienced, and exceeding a matrix doesn't always guarantee they (upgrading pilots, not just Porter) have the leadership skills or attitude to upgrade. They might fly the aircraft well, but not play nice with others.

It is a complicated and dynamic situation regarding bypass, current E2 FOs, both DE and PAI, future staffing levels and FOAG.
