Let's say for argument's sake that the passenger was a total asshole. Would/should that ever result in the way that FA was shouting through the whole cabin?theacolyte wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 3:44 pmSuspended? Fired? There is clearly more to the story. Having done flights to and from Morocco I’ve had more than one occasion of unruly passengers. I will bet 100% there’s more to it than the“I just asked for a blanket” excuse.
YUL flight cancelled because pax asked for a blanket

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Internal rumours are there was possibly racist or homophobic slurs being thrown towards some cabin crew before the smartphones started filming.digits_ wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 7:50 pmLet's say for argument's sake that the passenger was a total asshole. Not saying that justifies the way she acted after, but definitely cause to have someone removed from the aircraft, cause it sure ain’t going to get any better once you’re in the air.

Possible I suppose but I'd find it unlikely. Usually the mod cheers when an asshole passenger gets removed from the plane. If it's true that they got off in solidarity with the person then there must be something to this... I find that one thing this world is lacking is people sacrificing and standing up for what's right. So if a bunch risked their ticket home for this woman, the likelihood is that the FA was in the the wrong. I'm sure we will find out thoughDash.Trash wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 11:28 pmInternal rumours are there was possibly racist or homophobic slurs being thrown towards some cabin crew before the smartphones started filming.digits_ wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 7:50 pmLet's say for argument's sake that the passenger was a total asshole. She still deserves due process so hopefully AC doesn't fire her without a thorough investigation.

Ah. The dreaded rumor's. Lets take this at face value. All good. Its now fine to cancel a flight and mess up 300 peoples lives for 2 days because one person was a jerk and one other person got hurt feelings.
Unless you're suggesting all 300 pax were racist? LOL!
What happens to the next group of people, the next time this FA gets offended?
If I freak out as a passenger and cause a flight to be diverted, the airline might come after me. What is the consequence to this FA for costing the company a lot of money?
Or the people. What if someone's child on that flight had a medical procedure in Canada?
I get it. People don't GAF.
Life sucks. People suck. Deal with it and suck it up. Don't take it out on 300 other people.

Wholeheartedly agree! My post was refuting the insinuation that AC only gets the best of the best. There are good and bad, but mostly good just like every airline out there. Hell, AC wouldn't have turned down Chris Hadfield if they only ever hired the best of the best.theacolyte wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 12:50 pmI’ve been flying with a lot of sub 1 year FOs and I’ve only had one that I questioned a bit. There will always be a few that slip through the cracks but the overwhelming majority of new hires are more than qualified to be here.Tbayer2021 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 9:29 ammmm...bacon wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 9:01 am ^ What sort of d!ckhead comment is that? Sure, but that doesn't mean every new hire is a competent pilot. I personally know multiple individuals that were turned down at WJ, TS and SW, only to be picked up by AC. Another one botched the sim eval at Jazz and didn't get an offer. Guess who started at AC about 6 months later? Yet another case. Washed out of SW during line training and went to fly Dash-8s for Voyageurs on the Purolator contract. Made it to AC just over a year later. Why do you think there has been a considerable uptick in failures and overall training requirements over the last bunch of years?

Just kidding … but I remember that was a common accusation back in the days if you didn’t play for the NHL of Canadian aviation it’s because surely the elevator didn’t reach the top floor

Complex systems won’t survive the competence crisis
