In a navajo, generally, the engine on whose side you want to save fuel, needs the fuel selector in the OFF position, but first you need to open the cross feed flow of course.

If I recall correctly, you're also only supposed to cross feed in case of an engine failure, not 'just' to balance fuel, although it should work.

So left selector on a fuel tank, crossfeed ON, right fuel OFF will run both engines (if they are running) from the left side.

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Wow was that fuel management ever messed up! Left fuel tanks were empty and about 53 gallons in the right fuel tanks!

Crossfeed is normally a single engine operation to get at fuel that is in the opposite wing to the running engine. Not to feed fuel to both engines from one tank.

When the right engine failed, the right fuel selector should have been selected to right inboard, crossfeed on, right electric pump on, left fuel selector off, left electric fuel pump off. The investigation found both fuel selectors in the wrong position and the crossfeed off, starving the left AND right engines of fuel.

But he was all messed up as he had emptied the left fuel tanks before he got on approach!
