Re: Never heard back
Canada tends to follow American culture eventually. If they are shaking off DEI so will we. It's going to be awkward sharing the flight deck with obvious DEI hires going forward.
Re: Never heard back
I know a couple DEI hires and they all know it's BS too. But if the airlines offer them jobs with an accelerated career path, no one would turn that down. They're not going to handicap themselves just because more qualified white males are getting bypassed by them because of their gender and ethnic background. We all know it's not fair but it's not the DEI new hires that are pushing that agenda, it's progressive HR departments throughout the country which thankfully is being rolled back a bit.
That form of hiring is pretty obvious at Air Canada and Jazz. Air Georgian was the worst with its objective of hiring 50% female crews regardless of experience or qualifications. Encouraging women, aboriginals and ethnic minorities to get into aviation is great, but handing them free jobs when they're not qualified is not the answer and will result in getting people killed.

Re: Never heard back
That is because DEI was never really about helping anyone. It's about keeping wages low. Do you really think these corporations cared about helping minorities?fixnfly wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 3:14 pm

Do you have proof for all the hours you've flown? That means letters from your previous employers/CAA/Military.flyingtonwhr wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 8:39 pm Hello Aviators,
Happy Halloween!
Recently moved to Canada to be with partner and got my ATPL here.
Applied to AC around end of August but yet to hear back from them.
I have more than 4000 hours of airline/military experience outside of Canada, none in Canada.
Has anyone applied and heard back from AC over the last couple of months, or does it take longer to hear back from them?
Not all Licences are equal. I can think of 2 countries where fake hours/Licences are a real issue (not accusing you of anything).
Your best option is to fly a few years for any company in Canada - those hours will help you. Jmho.
Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find in this business

All my logbooks are certified by the Chief Pilot from my previous airlines.Eric Janson wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 2:10 amDo you have proof for all the hours you've flown? That means letters from your previous employers/CAA/Military.flyingtonwhr wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 8:39 pm Hello Aviators,

I also have official letters from them to proof my hours. That's 3500 hrs on jet. Zero response.
I am currently flying with another airline in Canada. Recently sent an email to update AC and ask about my application, all they said was it is still active in the system.

Re: Never heard back
It’s probably because your logbooks are certified. If they are stamped, it’s suspicious. Try losing a few pages due to a wakeboarding incident or something creative.porkfloss wrote: ↑Fri Mar 14, 2025 7:12 pmAll my logbooks are certified by the Chief Pilot from my previous airlines.Eric Janson wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 2:10 amDo you have proof for all the hours you've flown? I suggest less letters to them and just wait.

Re: Never heard back
You are better off where you are. We aren't flying much anymore. You would come just to be laid off.
Re: Never heard back
Air Canada interviewer here. Feel free to reach out to the hiring team if you haven't heard back within 10 weeks of your interview.
Best of luck.
Best of luck.
Re: Never heard back
Would you be willing to comment on PIT classes and lay off rumours?
Re: Never heard back
No layoffs, 1 PIT course a month for the summer, and back to 2 per month in the fall.
