So what's this about? You haven't expounded on this at all.

According to gameon nothing to see, company is thriving and the Union is just being divisive.Speedbrakes wrote: ↑Mon Jun 02, 2025 6:15 amSo what's this about? You haven't expounded on this at all.

It’s clear most on here are supporting the unions actions and likely actual members who are not biased at all
the reality is we have far too many problems with the current MEC. The company needs to be held accountable, of course, and certain aspects have been well managed such as fatigue but we also need a working relationship. Not talking and having the union shut out helps nobody and this is a direct result of the current MECs aggressive and arrogant attitude. This company had 3 jets and a shitty contract 4 years ago - most people never heard of Flair including pilots. The pay was embarrassing and negotiations later this year are well timed to clean up some important issues that were overlooked. How many of you got lucky and now have a command at Flair or flying jets for the first time? That’s what thought…. I’d be more grateful. Closing bases and constant shifting of plans is obviously terrible but the alternative is worse. Hopefully 2026 will indeed be a better year.

if you were on the town hall, then you know - charter work incoming, 5 year deal, charters op Oct-May/Jun annually. it wasn't said who the work is for, but I'm sure there is a press release coming soon.Speedbrakes wrote: ↑Mon Jun 02, 2025 6:15 amSo what's this about? Must be a hell of a deal - I can only assume it's highly lucrative if they are willing to shutter a base and pull/refit a couple of airframes, even if it is the older NGs.
Re: Not surprised...
Can someone please explain to me why the flair pilots are upset with their union advising their junior members that they are being furloughed? To my knowledge, this is their union obligation to do so, once the company has formally advised them. I also understand that this is in their union constitution. Shouldn't the pilots be more upset with their management for withholding such information until it was convenient to tell their pilots of their potentially challenging future? I'm pretty sure at most company's, the employees would like to know immediately, especially before the CEO discusses their f@#$ing website.
I'm scratching my head with this. To me this sounds like an attempt to divide the union, by undermining their MEC, despite the fact the MEC did their jobs correctly. Now there's a vote with one of the candidates that is very management friendly? I feel sorry for flair pilots. Your MEC is doing their job and they are being chastised for it. I hope you all realize who you're voting for in your election. It's pretty evident you have a group of pilots trying to weed their way into your mec to help management with another bottom feeding contract at year end.

They are laying off pilots because they secured a new charter contract? Is the contract for dry leases?

Is it for Sunwing Vacations since Westjet doesn't have the airplanes or crew to do the planned winter flying?

Re: Not surprised...
The company got the MEC they deserved. Had management been following the CBA instead of constantly arguing "intent" with every single issue, we could still have an MEC made up of good old boys solving problems over a beer. But when our management argues tooth and nail against the CBA they signed, they get a feisty MEC elected by the members.Gameon wrote: ↑Mon Jun 02, 2025 10:43 am It’s clear most on here are supporting the unions actions and likely actual members who are not biased at allthe reality is we have far too many problems with the current MEC. Let's not forget that our contract expires in December. Right on schedule, 6 months out, suddenly the company starts struggling.
At the last town hall meeting, everything was awesome. At the first town hall after the new contract gets ratified, we will again be doing so awesome all the newly minted directors will need bonuses to celebrate turning things around.
Every company uses the same play book. It's so uncreative.

Re: Not surprised...
flight ops manager just said to all pilots that they won't give the union advanced warning of anything in future, so did they start the 45 days notice on monday or did they just give advance warning that they would?
