Agreed with DOC, no real need for e6b on your watch, however a reliable
watch is needed, you always need it when you dont have it.Mine are fortis gmt for everyday, and the oysterquatrz for when im not humping fueldrums and drill steel, 6 years and it still looks brand new.next one is a seadweller...

This topic seems to come up from time to time. I don't know why pilots and big watches ever became synonymous. But to me, collecting watches is like collecting art. People do it all the time. People pay MILLIONS for old canvas and paint. It doesn't have to be justified. It is beyond justification (just ask my wife). I collect watches for reasons that are far beyond "just telling the time". Like art, I could go to Ikea and buy a picasso print for 10 bucks if all I wanted was something to fill a wall. If I just want a time teller, I have my Seiko (granted it still cost me 700 bucks). Either you understand the "passion"of collecting or you don't. It doesn't mean you are a broke-ass FO if you have a fancy watch. I know broke ass people and millionairs that have big honkin' Panerai watches. I am always amazed at how someone can hand craft 500 little pieces together and keep the time within 2 or 3 seconds a day- especially when there are 86,400 seconds in a day. Not bad accuracy as far as I am concerned.
Anyway, enjoy your Rolexes, Breitlings, Omegas, or whatever floats your boat. It beats crystal meth!

I suspect I might have a few years on a lot of the posters on this site...do you guys remember the pre-debit card days?
The way I have always heard that one was...Definition of a pilot: big watch, small cock and always trying to cash a cheque!Definition of a copilot: big clock, small cock and no money

A 172 with an MEL - give me a break. It was you who used the 172 as an example, was it not?pika wrote:..... but even a 172 has a panel mounted clock so it doesn't really matter.
I can't cut and paste from a pdf MEL but it shows that one clock is required for dispatch. MEL 25-1. Two installed, one required for dispatch.
