dude calm down, you just keep going on about the same shit. the reason why i thought the pay was so bad was because I was in for the CEOTP. and why are you going off on this 2 motnhs thing? all i was saying was my info was from 2 months ago, so i said things could've very well changed.
and i took your advise, i did reread you post and it makes sense, i apologize. the military pay is deffinitly comparable to civi however in the long term, in civi you can make a lot of money in the corporate side of things but you dont have the security or benefits and deffinitly not the pension as you would in the military.
ps, you can really make more than 100k as a pilot in the military?
Another "what would you do?" question

I am guessing you got these figures from the General Service Officer Pay Scale or from an older scale because you will find that a starting out pilot Captain(which is generally what your rank will be after 3 yrs assuming no hick ups) is quite a bit higher. You will start out at approx. $67K/yr and after 10 years you will max out at about $100K. This is not including any allowances so you can tack on just over $3K/yr for a junior captain and about $5K for a senior one for aircrew allowance.CLguy wrote: A Captain starts at $63,096 and tops out at $83,412. Majors salary starts at $85,320 and tops out at $95,688 plus all the other benefits previously mentioned.
Obviously if you get promoted to a higher rank then captain you will get paid even more money.
There are numerous other benefits of the military too (ie pension, job stability, numerous other allowances, paid education) so as you can see joining the military is a good solid financial choice.
Didn't mean to step on your toes CL.

Which brings up another point. All those figures I said change every few years to keep up with inflation. Its nice to know that your pay is always going up.CLguy wrote:Thanks for the update groundpilot! Yes the numbers I have are from the 2005 payscales and I assumed they had gone up some but couldn't clarify it.
