Among the 3 PC you listed, I would only pick the Acer AM5620. I try to replicate a similar PC by custom selecting parts and I came out around $1300 with no LCD monitor. Future Shop's website is not saying it will include a monitor so it could be a in-store only deal. The follow is a list of reason why my specs would be $400 more:
1. I have 4 GB of RAM at DDR2-800 which is speed match to the motherboard's bus speed. The one in AM5620 probably isn't.
2. I have a better looking tower with a brand name power supply rated at 500W. Don't know what the power rating is in the Acer but it won't be so crap that it may short out and burn down your house. And no, I'm not joking.
3. The DVD burner may be a slower/older model. Not that is going to matter since all of the drives these days have max out read speed.
I think it's a pretty nice machine for the price. Stay away from AMD, when compare to an Intel machine of similar speed it is still 10% slower in benchmarks. Plus their CPU design is a tad behind.
PS: Also, that's the only machine running the latest generation chipset.

32 bit OS's can use up to 4GB (2^32=4GB), but due to limitations in the design of 32 bit Windows you aren't going to see more than about 3.2GB. You need a 64 bit OS if you do want to use all of the 4GB, or more.Axial Flow wrote:If you go with over 2GB of RAM in order to use it you will need a 64 bit OS like Vista 64 or WinXP 64...32 BIT OS's can not address more than 2 GB...

Re: Flight Simulator X
Right now I'm running FSX at a respectable 10-20FPS (depending on where I am), all sliders completely cranked (this is post-SP1, pre-Acceleration).
System specs....
Intel Core 2 E6850 (3.0GHz)
EVGA e-GeForce 8800GTX (768MB/DX10)
4GB PC2-8500 ram (Crucial Ballistix Tracer, about 100 bucks per 2GB...cheap!)
Sound Blaster X-FI Gamer sound card (takes a good load off the CPU, actually, and sounds pretty good. A hundred bucks though.)
WinXP Pro SP2
OCZ GameXStream 850W power supply (yes you need that much to run this thing, at least if you SLI the damn thing)
The FPS quote I gave is for stock aircraft (namely the 747-400) - - addon aircraft (the PMDG 747-400X being a prime example) will cut that approximately in half. Turn some sliders down if that happens.
I haven't OCed anything yet (waiting for the water cooling system to arrive) - so I might be able to squeeze a bit more out of this thing. Planning on (one of these days) adding another 8800GTX in SLI, and maybe snagging an Intel Penryn-series chip (my motherboard supports all 45nm chips from intel). That would kick ass (and require me to start selling various body parts - those 8800s don't come cheap)....
Did I mention that, for my current setup, I paid about 2000 even? Boxing day
