I don't think you'd be going through Roger's Pass from Cranbrook 99% of the time. Stay in the southern valley and run up the lake from Castlegar. If the ceiling is decent as you hit the southern tip of the Arrow Lakes, you shouldn't have a problem getting there. You do have to be wary of fog though as it often forms in the flats near the airport. Carry lots of fuel and don't hesitate to turn back if things are going south.

Or you could shoot the ILS at Prince George and then come VFR down the Fraser to Valemount, where you take that little valley over to the Columbia and that lake behind the Mica Dam and then run down the river until you get to Revelstoke, but I suppose that's a lot of work if you're a 180 on floats out of Sicamous.

Some days God just doesn't want you to go to Revelstoke.

hahaha... true enough. If you're cloud breaking in Cranbrook though, it's virtually the same distance to go over to Castlegar and up the lake then it is to go up the valley to Golden and across the pass. I know which route I'd prefer 90% of the time.
