'Mine' ended up in Colombia, probably doing there what it did all its life, haul huge-ass loads, more people than seats and fly into crappy strips. Great aerodyne.
"What's it doing now?"
"Fly low and slow and throttle back in the turns."

This one stopped in at YZF for fuel a couple days ago. Immaculate machine, had the Basler conversion just last year. It's flown by Enterprise Air, but apparently based in Germany. (which is where it was headed over the next couple days.) Reg. C-GAWI.

Thats interesting.
I have seen pics of the LI2 with no door at all on the Port side so it must have been an option............just like seatbelts and safety cards......

Anyone on here remember CF-CUC?

Fantastic response, thanks. Where ever the old Dak in her various guises is found, there will ever be her fond admirers. Of all the transport aeroplanes ever built, she surely stands, and flies yet, as an outstanding permanent memorial to the genius of Donald Wills Douglas and his chief designer, Arthur Raymond. Anyone sharing these sentiments who is visiting these shores, get in touch and I will gladly arrange a few intros to the remaining flying 'Threes' this side of the Pacific.

In its previous life, LFR was the last Norseman V off the assembly line before it was shut down. It went to St. Felicien Air Services. Phil Larivière did the initial test flight of the airplane, which for him meant things had come full circle since he'd worked on the first one, CF-AYO, when he'd worked for Leigh Capreol at Dominion Skyways. LFR went through the ice and was lost at Wakeham Bay. When St. Felicien got their first DC-3, they had it registered CF-LFR.Anybody here have any time on LFR?

LFR als spent some time with the Bradley Air Services/First Air family. Here it is parked at Carp in the late 80's.

Re: DC-3s, C47s and Dakotas
LFR was up in Resolute in the early 80's when I was there. If I'm not mistaken, it was a retired RCAF C-47.

That must have been where it went after St. Felicien went belly up. In 1972 St. Felicien bought the last two DC-3's Hollinger Ungava Transport had left, FST and FKZ. They lost FKZ at Asbestos Hill I think it was. The other was scrapped at Roberval I believe. There was a third Hollinger DC-3, CF-DXO that went to one of the northern operators. It was lost in the Arctic somewhere.LFR als spent some time with the Bradley Air Services/First Air family. Here it is parked at Carp in the late 80's.

Re: DC-3s, C47s and Dakotas
The museum in YHM has a flying Dakota that takes to the skies on the weekends with a bunch of other wicked vintage aircraft (Lancaster, B25, Steerman, Harvard, etc)
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

LFR was flown by Jean Marie Pitre in 1974. Picture taken east of LG2, bringing a small tractor(8000Lbs) to build the first airfield at LG4. We (CF-FKZ) were following him in case of an engine failure. Oil paint made by C. Weber.

Re: DC-3s, C47s and Dakotas
Anyone have pix of CF-YQG in her glory days? Last I saw her she was in bits and pieces at Red Deer. I spent many hours in her ex-CYTH in the early 80's when she was owned by Nunasi Central Airlines. I have many exterior pix but none of the "executive" style interior before she was gutted. White and gold, airstairs, full rear galley, ORD skyline mural on the bulkhead.
