All training in YVR? The last YVR VFR course should be completed in June.

I've been told there is an upcoming VFR course in YEG for August...would rather have YVR though.

Affirmitive... they want to run one more course this year, should be starting in the fall. Expect course load of 4-6 students.

The VFR course in YVR that ends in June was internal.

Waiting for a 2nd Interview at YVR too. Just wonder why Nav Can keeps things so secret from all of the recruits? Does anyone know the answer? Best one gets a prize! :D

Does anyone know if that actually went through?

There was talks of me being on that course, but my manager informed me that due to higher staffing than expected at the towers, they were planning on cancelling the course.

Apparently I'm now just waiting to get on the fall course.

Of course this is all just rumours, so who knows....

Yes it went through. I know it started with one student only on a special assignment only due to "over staffing" But I heard rumors about another being added.

One student? Rough! Especially for sim runs!

Been there, done that. Not fun. 3 instructors to 1 trainee. Lots of critical eyes watchin'.
Of course, one deals with the situation in a strictly professional manner: :drinkers: :smt030 :finga: :smt078 :smt015

Heard absolutely nothing Matt, not for ab-initio trainees anyway.

If I am not mistaken, the sim is in Fredericton, cross training FSS. It will be quite awhile I would imagine before they are done. Until then I can't see there be any abinitio training in the rest of the FIR.

I'm also waiting for 2nd interview at CZVR. First one was done within 2 weeks of written test (Jan), so I thought they were in a mad rush, but heard NOTHING since. Checked by phone to make sure *I* wasn't the one holding things up (missing docs, etc) but they said I was good. Apparently rolling out some new tech, so gotta get everyone already in-house up to speed before training newbies. No point training us on old system, the lady at recruit center said... So MAYBE a Sept start...

What's wrong with the voice rec? Tough to use?

Voice Req has no chance of working in a high volume specialty with a lot of required co-ordination. (Which most in YYZ are) A lot of the phraseology used in co-ordinating with other controllers is ad-hoc and the voice req won't recognize it, putting the controller behind in his/her run.

I completely agree with you. I didn't enjoy it in basic VFR.
Let's hope somebody's listening before they ram it through...

This is my first post (Hopefully of many)

I have my second interview this Monday July 12th at YYZ. It has pretty much been a year since I started this process and almost 10 months since my Phone Interview. I was actually very surprised to get a phone call, specially considering I have not sent NAV Canada any documentation yet. Mostly because the hastle to get out-of-country education approved is rather large. But also because I am in my late 30's and a major adjustment to family life if this is to happen.

However, it would be a dream come true, and I will continue to pursue it.
