Dutiedout - you heard wrong, there no "c" scale. Mentor Starting pay is the exact same as any other pilot starting out with the company and pay increases as per the contract on your date of hire anniversary, as for the per diems - $1.70 is the same for everyone across the board.
Seems people are getting called at about 1200-1500 TT. Once you have 500 on type and there is a spot you can expect an upgrade to the left seat as long as you have 1800TT. Turn over rate is through the roof. I know a few that never even made it through line indoc and quit to go somewhere else. 27K a year equals about $860 every two weeks. You will work the CARS maximums and no less. The people I know there are quiet disillusioned. The company has a mandate to run lean. So that means each person will work hard. Which I understand. However combined with a min salary out of major centres (YYZ,YYC) it breeds a culture that is quite toxic. It is up the to the individual to remain positive and look at future goals. But that can be difficult when you are surrounded by people that are pissed off.
That being said I have heard that AC is taking lots of people from GGN. Basically once you have 3000 hours and work at GGN and have an APP in at AC you will get an interview if they are hiring. At least that is what I have been told. Maple Flot has taken first officers and skipped past captains.
^ ^ Dont forget that that ONE of the reasons AC has skipped over some Captains there is that they do not have appropriate Aviation College or a University Degree.
Getting to AC once you get your command time there is "easy". Surviving mentally, physically and financially there until Ac calls you is totally another thing
I may be saying some harsh words here, so excuse me if I went too far.....but don't take my opinion , just ask the guys working there. It beats getting any advice here on AvCanada.

Anybody know what kind of background they look for in pilots selection (instructor, bush, charter, medevac etc...?). I hear most recruits have 2000 hrs TT recently, but someone recently posted saying 1200-1500Tt, website says 1500... Any insight?

From what I know HR is supposed to pick people based on their qualifications that is collected from the online application. That being said I personally know of people going right from flight instructing to GGN and other friends of mine with 1000 Multi turbine Pic not getting so much as a view of their resume. It defies logic. So I wont even begin to guess as to how it actually operates.

Due to insurance premiums/minimums I think they prefer to see around 1500hrs...unless it got dropped again. You should get in touch with someone there and find out or talk to their Chief Pilot. He's a decent guy and will (time permitting) respond to your phone call or email and tell you what you are missing on your CV. That and calling the front desk and trying to arrange a 5 min meet and greet session will always help. It's nice to put a face to a resume in my opinion.
I'm sure you have the name, but in case you don't it's Troy Stephens he's email is posted on the website.
I hear they are doing charters already in Alberta? How is this possible with planes painted up in A/C colours? I also heard they don't like going to places that don't have ground power.
Their planes were painted in AC colors for few years (they just added Express letters now), and have been doing charters around, so I don't see why would it be an issue in Alberta?
captain upgrade is still 2700h total, and 500h on type.
Apparently, Halifax base is short on pilots, and short on upgradable F/O's.
But so is the two other bases, YYC and YYZ.
For the charters in YYC, I know they have been operating charters in YYZ with the AC colours... so Why not?
The GPU issues is because of the poor quality of our batteries, and the fact that a lot off engines have been having hot starts...
(for sure pilots are blamed for that.... the ggn way)
Captain upgrade is still 2700hrs 500 hrs on type. Professionally run company to high standards; they even have had to cut several new hires even after spending time and money on more training and guys unable to pass the ride - No short cuts on training. Pilot standards are very good coming out of GGN- hence AC likes GGN pilots, have been told that 30% of AC intake come from GGN. Bunch of good fair people running the show; money is about the same as CMA without the bond - they only want people that want to be there and have the confidence as an operator not to bond even with all the movement as of late. A few disgruntled guys and gals on the line but that is the same any where, the majority of GGN employees seem happy. Your entitled to JS agreements from day one with WJ. After 6 months flight benefits with AC star alliance group. If you do a good job their happy to see you on your way to AC and WJ.
As for charters can't see the difference from Jazz doing charters for Suncor or Sunwest as we see from time to time, than GGN doing charters, if anything it's free advertising for AC with the oil and gas company's that operate in Alberta. The company is audited to IOSA and AC standards much more regulated and stringent than contrails. All the best to GGN YYC ops.
Experience in ground school ranges from 250 hrs mentor program to 5000 hrs all backgrounds bush, float, instructor, with IFR experience. Usually 2 panel interview followed by a sim eval at flight safety.

Unless you ment 'people' to be pilots?
Most of the info you provided is to be fair correct. But I picked those two lines from your quote that tell me either you never worked there, you did 10 years ago or simply you used some hallucinatorty pills when you wrote this for which you are excused then
I personally know a lot of people there and am in touch with them often enough to know that this would be a huge (understatement) insult to them if they read this!!!
PM me the pill name if you don't want it to be public, I understand
