Being mature and being 45 years old aren't the same thing. I know plenty of people in their forties even fifties who have the maturity of high school kids. The point is, only someone else can judge your maturity, you can't advertise that its something you are.

The world is full of hard workers. What do you show a potential employer that makes you stand out? Are you willing to work weekend? nights? Teach ground school? Personally I try to look for someone who shows some passion about what they do. This ain't a business for a nine-to-fiver. It rewards initiative. What else are you interested in that might appeal to a potential employer?

Its not that they don't believe you, it that its not what they want. Personally I expect that the boys and girls I hire have some sort of dream where they want to get to in the aviation world. If the flight school is as high as you're shooting it doesn't look like you have much by the way of ambition to the CFI. They want you to be hungry for it.

Actually I just got a reply from a school in Saskatchewan and one from b.c. Advising they are not hiring, so yes i am trying outside of Ontario as well.

Please tell me you didn't just send out those applications. Pleae tell me yo at least sent them out in May or the latest June. Either way, you can't just mail yourself out, you got to go make a road trip. Talk to people in person. Did I mention bring donuts?

Horse Puckies. Only is a factor if you think its a factor. I've hired guys in their forties before, I know others have as well. In fact a long time ago when I did my class 4, one of my fellow class 4s at the time was in his fifties. Great fellow. Found work as an instructor right away.

Seems to me like a class 2 would make 40-50 thousand per year, which isn't horrible and it sure beats 20 thousand Good luck to you bluenote Your best bet, like mentioned, would be to try some of the schools out west. I know for a fact some of them are hiring and in need of instructors. Just hope that if you end up out here the winter isn't as bad as it was last year weather wise.
