You are probably talking about Transat pilot Robert Piché. Pilot of the 330 that glided to the Azores after fuel starvation. "In 1983, Piché served 16 months of a 10-year sentence in prison after a plane he landed solo at a small airfield in the state of Georgia was found to be full of marijuana smuggled from Jamaica. "

My small piece of the puzzle. Flew the airplane from YOW-YQT-YQR-YLW on Aug. 28/96. Shame their was no log books and had to be parted out. The engines were good and the airframe was not twisted. The Reg. was CFYTV.

they caught them, because the fuel truck driver was late. The local manager showed up the colombians stole his car, the cops dragged them out of the ditch half frozen a few miles down the road.
