Re: CMA
Wow I've got in's at CMA and never have I heard such a bitter post about CMA? They all complain about the pay which is fair enough, but to the extent that was written by help? Maybe I'm friends with the happier bunch?

Re: CMA
It is what it is and what it is really is something to be experienced and can't really be described although help@cma did a good job with the description, I wouldn't say he/she is bitter, just telling the way it is.
From my experience working there from day to day it's actually quite an easy job flying some great routes in a fun aircraft. Just show up to work on time and put your day in. Talk to dispatch, get your flight plans. No contact with management if you are doing your job. Find a snag? Call dispatch who calls maintenance, plane is grounded or MEL'd no problem. Weather bad? Wait it out or cancel. Weather bad when you get there? Do the missed, go to your alternate and wait for dispatch to figure out the rest. Pretty low stress.
The problems start when you expect to be treated like any normal individual with some self respect would. CMA has a history of last minute changes to days off, holidays, base changes, pay increases, duty day extensions, you know, all those day to day things that can make a place enjoyable to work at for the long term. CMA does not want you there for the long term.
Now that I haven't worked there for a few years I find myself only remembering the good times.
Any questions? Just ask.

Re: CMA
Ah yes, now we have common ground at some of these Tier 3/704 operators here in Canada. It doesn't matter if you are headquartered in YYC or YYZ - the treatment is the same. Which really sucks, as the places have the potential to be great places to work at. I'll never understand it...x cma wrote:The problems start when you expect to be treated like any normal individual with some self respect would. My suggestion is: put in your time (and hard work with it) and get out when you get the call. You and the employer the long term relationship to last. Just try not to lose you spine and character while you are there. It's a small place in this aviation business and people remember. Plus, you'll feel better at the end of the day when you stood for something that was right and didn't care if you get a good recommend letter or not.

my 2 cents
Re: CMA
Has anyone heard back from CMA lately? Are they still considering the second Tier low hour ramp route for low time pilots or are they focused on only direct entry FO's right now? I have about 550 hours and IATRA and sent them a resume a little while back and am just wondering what people have heard.
Re: CMA
Wow!!!
Help@cma
Bud you hit the ball outta the province!!! Only thing I'd add and is the vacation bidding/awarding BS!! No reason for that. There is no part of what you've wrote that is incorrect. Let me applaud you for taking the time to write it like it is.
X CMA - You are also right. Its a company that has many great people within it.. I believe that many people at this level of their aviation career haven't yet discovered that, most if not all companies have great people working there. That one takes time and experience to appreciate. And yes within most all organizations there are some incompetent, ego driven, god complex, creatures that spoil the air quality on a daily basis. CMA would advance very progressively without her.
Its a good place for a person starting out to get what they need. Just focus on what your there for and DONT Hit the Glass Ceiling!!
Eyes on the prize.
BTW what does a Dash guy make?

Re: CMA
What happens if/when you don't get the call (or PFO'd) and you've whored out the whole industry and yourself for 3+ years waiting, as is the problem...My suggestion is: put in your time (and hard work with it) and get out when you get the call.
