I'm interviewing next week and my head is spinning. I have a very good job that I enjoy and that pays me very well but unfortunately it keeps me away from home 6+ months a year so I'm very interested in Jazz under the right circumstances.

For me to consider this job then at this point I'd only be able to accept a position in YYZ (unless commuting is actually possible but I heard it's not that easy) so for those who know, what are the chances of that happening? I understand that it's a random draw on the 2nd day of GS but from what I've read it seems that most of the positions are in fact in YYZ so what are the realistic chances? Also I'm currently living outside the GTA but it would be about a 90 minute drive for me to get to the airport. Is that doable with the pairings or would I need to live closer?

Thanks for any info and cheers!

You will get what you get and they will ask if you are willing to relocate to any of their bases. There is some sort of mechanism where if you are at a base you don't like, you can trade with someone. But of course you have to be able to find someone willing to do so. Neve have done this sort of thing myself.

As for the affirmative action style question or whatever the appropriate term for it is.....Now you are prepared for it. It is not unusual for someone to be having a marginal interview. It would bever be right for the final straw for failure being an honest answer of your life experience not having had any significant encounters that "affected you" having to do with a person of a different...whatever the term is. If that is considered a poor answer.

No worries. I get that. I'm certainly not asking for any special treatment and if I can't make things work then I'll withdraw my application. I'm curious if I draw a base other than YYZ then how realistic is commuting? I understand no passes until 6 months in so I'm guessing that commuting is either extremely difficult or extremely expensive. My concern is that if commuting isn't realistic then I won't be able to continue with my application.

Cheers,

Don't stop the process over the worry of commuting. Commuting is actually not that bad with Westjet and the best part with them is, (I am 5 years in and use Westjet ALL the time because) they are ALOT cheaper that AC anyway. Pretty sad actually

The job is awesome regardless of what the nah sayers chirp about.

Good Luck.

Oh, Chances are yes you will get a YYZ base
