The more I think about this the more it scares me, or makes me think. To have someone get by all of those people, and get on an aircraft and then loose it. Scarey situation and really tragic for him and his family. Makes you really start to look at everyone around you.

The times are a changing. I hope nothing like this happens again.

Good luck to all

I guess you've never heard of the FFDO program in the States?
You are correct Donald, I didnt know about it until I just googled it now. I wonder how this could have turned out if he was one of the approved pilots allowed to carry a handgun onto the FD. I wonder if this incident will have any effect on the current FFDO program in the StatesÉ Im just glad it turned out well for everyone involved.

I do hope that the Hospital checks for toxins. As many poisons/drugs will give similar symtoms in small amounts.
Perhaps Al quada is experimenting with LSD as a weapon.
They should also check his coffee cup for meds or poison.

As I said in my vaporized post, maybe he caught his wife in bed with his best friend or brother this morning
Well, if it was his best friend , could he not just have put him in his kennel or at least told him he was a bad dog.? :smt040

This really is a sad incident for so many reasons. For the personal ones of the pilot and his family, to the passengers, and for all of us in the industry who will now lose another shot of respect from the public.
Perhaps we should maybe all just take a step back from the usual gossip and speculating for awhile until all the facts come out.

If the FO was a low time 300 hour plots as is the case in many US regional airlines, would he have had the experience to make that decision and land the aircraft himself?
I mean this in no way as an attack on hawker driver, but really? Did you actually hit the submit key after asking that question? The guy in the right seat HAS been trained in the aircraft. His captain has flipped. WTF other decision could he possibly make? Dumbest question of the month award, I fear must go to this one.
In all fairness doc, I've done training with several f/o's, many of which are low timers. We did an exercise in the sim once where I simulated incapacitation and the f/o became stressed and did not handle the situation well. This wasn't the only instance of this exercise being done with the same results. Yes, they are trained, but when the time comes, they don't have experience to fall back on, let alone someone in the seat beside them to assist in decision making.

Some people on this thread might notice some posts missing. They've been removed as they contribute little to the discussion at hand, and are really manifestations of what appears to be some sort of personal dislike.

Knock it off, and grow up.
