You do not hear the seat belts come off a split second after touchdown. You do not see 200 people standing before the A/C stops. 3 seconds after yes. There are places where the behavior of pax is quite different (Africa). When you state lies it plants the logic that the rest of your comments are also untrue. So what are we to believe?

Re: Phones ON Phones OFF ?
On a recent flight I sat across the aisle from a real piece of work. He fought with the flight attendant on every little instruction. She had to tell him to shut down his laptop and stow it several times.
He would just roll his eyes and said, "yes I heard you the first time". On final he had his computer on this lap and the flight attendant (now in the FA seat on the bulkhead) told him that she would stand up and come over to watch him if he didn't do it right away.
He rolled his eyes, mumbled "what a bitch" and closed the lid on the laptop and placed it on the empty seat next to him.
I couldn't hold my tongue. When the airplane came to a stop I explained to him that his laptop could become a projectile in case of a problem at landing and could easily injure someone. He told me to mind my own business and I said that my health and welfare was certainly my business and that his thoughtlessness and immaturity was placing everyone in the airplane in potential danger. It was after I asked him what made him think rules were for everyone else but him that I got a little applause from the people around me.
He rolled his eyes and didn't utter another word. What a douche.

Remote automobile starters are the worst. Because a scenario where passengers would use these devices while the aircraft is in flight (specifically on an ILS approach) is so rare it is not worthy of consideration by FAs or the airline industry as a whole. I posted a real-life incident where a Dash-8 executed a missed approach due to "large fluctuations of the LOC and GP" while inside the FAF. The flight did not try another approach, and returned to the airport of departure.

Re: Phones ON Phones OFF ?
Every cell phone I've ever owned dating up to 10 years ago has had a setting called "flight mode". While I felt it useless in the past it is very useful with the newer smart phones, as it disables any and all tx/rx signals but allows me to use the phone for pre-downloaded music, movies, games ect.
I'm a little surprised no one has brought up the flight mode setting on phones yet. Has anyone ever had an issue with it? Or is it a matter of we can't tell if its set or not so put it away and remove all doubt.

Not sure anyone cares, but when you turn yourflight mode
cell phone off, you're really not turning it off, in
the sense of a physical power switch, like devices
used to have.
I'm surprised that airlines don't require you to pop
the battery out of your cellphone before takeoff,
which is how you really turn it off.
Since you can't do this with an iPhone, therefore
all Apple cell phones should be banned from airplanes.
Re: Phones ON Phones OFF ?
Why don't some of you (pilots) do a "controlled experiment" then?
Prior to pushback ask your passengers to all (at the same time) call or text using their cell phones......
Prior to takeoff again ask everyone to do the same thing......
Once established in cruise (or in a climb/descent) do the same thing.
and make sure you have recorded your instruments (video camera) before and during and after the requests.......
Then report back to Avcanada so the experts can analyze the data......
Git r done!
