Problem is, TC does not give a crap about suspected useless CAMEs. Avoid, or look him up if you need no questions asked.

Re: Aviation Medical Costs
Moved to Lethbridge last year. Anybody here who can comment on the local CAMEs?
Re: Aviation Medical Costs
Any recommends on good doctor's in the Toronto/Etobicoke/Mississauga area? I went to Dr. Kapoor last year and he seems to know nothing about aviation at all. After waiting for him to show up from a conference for 45 minutes, the medical took an hour n half while he looked up what it exactly was he was supposed to be testing. Was also very expensive.
Re: Aviation Medical Costs
Went in to renew the Cat 1 yesterday. The CAME raised his price again, $150 no ECG. So, $205 total, with TC's "processing" fee.
Re: Aviation Medical Costs
Most pilots refuse to pay the $55.00 fee from transport Canada, Then the Income tax arm of the Government steps in and grabs the money from your Income tax returns which is illegal, Transport doesn't have the authority to use other government agencies to collect money owed to it, I sent a letter to the Income tax people and they agreed with me and refunded the money which they had deducted from my income tax returns, We spend way too much money for our medicals, and it was the Liberal government who brought in this hikes in fees, David Collinette then Transport Canada's minister, Before that the fee was $5.00.

Re: Aviation Medical Costs
The fee doctors charged used to be $40.00 , then TC suggested that doctors charge $120.00 , and many doctors took TC up on that sujjestion, now its $140.00 plus what TC charges $55.00, which a lot of pilots refuse to pay, If TC would have minded their own business we would.not be paying these higher fees, in the first place.

Re: Aviation Medical Costs
I'm not quite certain how long ago any fee might have been $5, but we've had may discussions here over the years about the fee. In 1994, the fee structure was:redlaser wrote:Before that the fee was $5.00.
After the change in 2000, we all paid the same $55 fee per medical.Issue of a licence validation certificate for
(a) a commercial pilot or airline transport pilot
(i) for a six-month period - $45
(ii) for a one-year period - $70
(b) a private pilot, balloon pilot or glider pilot
(i) for a one-year period - $50
(ii) for a two-year period - $85
(iii) for a five-year period - $185
AvCanada: TC to suspend license over unpaid $55 fee
Re: Aviation Medical Costs
I have never heard of anyone having there licence suspended by TC for unpaid fees, be it medical or other fee, In recent years there have been a lot of cutbacks in TC services and longer wait times, Gov. Saves money in one department to spend it in another,
