Aycarumba, with the recent 60+/60+ ICAO ruling and the glut of pilots at mainline there won't be any hiring for the rest of this year as several posters have said.
Welcome to Redneck Airlines. We might not get you there but we'll get you close!

Re: Air Canada Pool
Just a curious question, how many flight hours do you guys have that got you interviews with Air Canada?
Re: Air Canada Pool
Do the calls go out all at once or do they put a few out every day?

Anywhere high 2000's to 10000 hours . I would say the average pilot had 4000-5000 hours in my class.Censo wrote:Just a curious question, how many flight hours do you guys have that got you interviews with Air Canada?
No calls for interviews, email. They don't all go at once.Mr. North wrote:Do the calls go out all at once or do they put a few out every day?
I know people that got hired after a pfo. It does happen. Keep your application up to date.scopiton wrote:Anyone got recalled after a pfo ?
I'm guessing more hiring in the fall with the 787's coming in. Maybe email the HR person that sends out the updates and ask for more information.arcadia wrote:What are the interviewers saying to the candidates in regards to hiring plans? I've been in the pool since last year and at that point they were hiring flat out supposedly, And they were happy to tell me so. Two months after my interview date hiring had stopped. So just wondering why the interviews with no hiring insight until the fall or after the new year?????
Cheers!

Re: Air Canada Pool
My understanding is that the hiring pool has no specific order to which the company must hire; they will cherry pick who they want during the selection process for start dates. The pool has varying levels of pilot experience and with the heavy jet time requirement for new hires at the rouge 767 operation I suspect the pool is being propped up again by interviewing pilots with extensive jet experience to meet that requirement.
Good luck to all.
Good luck to all.

Re: Air Canada Pool
I've been in the pool for a year now. The recruitment manager told us that candidates are usually taken out of the pool in the order they went into it. That's not to say they have to, they haven't officially hired any of us until they start ground school so they can pretty much do anything they like with us. But from what I've seen they do typically take you in order, when I went into the pool I was given a number pretty much the same as the others that interviewed with me, at the back of the line, and we've all been moving up the pool at the same rate. Same thing for people that are ahead of me. I've seen nothing that indicates they cherry pick certain candidates.
So I would say they take out of the pool in the order that people go in.

Re: Air Canada Pool
Hi, first post!
Can anyone enlighten me on the percentage of pool entries to PFOs? I hear that the hiring department at Air Can is huge without a whole lot to do these days, so I was assuming that the percentage of successful entries is relatively low compared to the amount of interviews conducted.
I'll try to contribute some relevant info when I get it - don't want to be a forum leech.

Re: Air Canada Pool
Are they still conducting interviews as of today? If so, what's the general profile of those getting the call?
Re: Air Canada Pool
i applied with 2800 TT (90percent multi turbine), degree, no pic time ... no calls or email
Re: Air Canada Pool
Hey guys, when there's NO hiring, you can apply with 10,000 hours on the space shuttle, and still not get called.
Re: Air Canada Pool
Na. Last I heard they'd rather contact guys with some Soyuz flight time. And tell you what : they do that on purpose to hire qualified applicants through the TFW...
Re: Air Canada Pool
Route is expanding rapidly. They probably need more crew in the fall to fill their routes
Re: Air Canada Pool
Where do you think those aircraft (and therefore the associated pilots) are coming from?Rou(g)e is expanding rapidly
Re: Air Canada Pool
How likely is it that hiring will continue in the fall? When is the next bid out? Any idea of number in the pool? Are they currently interviewing?
Thanks guys
Thanks guys
Re: Air Canada Pool
Bid today, Rumours of an October gs, but probably just the one with people coming from the pool.
Re: Air Canada Pool
Bid shows 12 vacancies YYZ EMJ FO and 1 vacancy YYZ LCC-767 FO.

Re: Air Canada Pool
Surprised to see YYZ Embraer jobs going to new hires. I figured they were still heavily crewed on the Embraer with the loss of the 175's to SkyRegional. I thought most growth was going to be LCC.
Re: Air Canada Pool
I believe there are many 319LCC FOs with reinstatement rights back onto the EMJ... The bid just opened today so wait until it closes to have a good idea what is still available after guys move around.
Re: Air Canada Pool
I didn't think there were any reinstatement rights for YYZ EMJ FO's as they all moved on voluntary reductions. Nobody was ever forced off therefore no RIR.
