Unless there was no one out there with lift for sale, why would these outfits deal with a company being run as CJ currently is, and with airplanes not suited at all for operations to the south from the east coast?(IE:no HF's)

Having to stay in Radar and VHF Radio coverage must be incredibly expensive on fuel... the differences on routing from YHZ to say MDPP is quite the distance.

Where is most of Canjet's flying coming from? Sunquest? Transat?

Mostly Transat. 60-70% would be a good guess.

Over 450 posts the majority of which are garbage from a few ignorant troublemakers some of who work for other airlines such as AC/JAZZ etc. Why do you not go and have more of your sick fun on your own company sites where I have read some of your posts! What a bunch of losers! I hope none of you really are pilots as you would be an embarassment to those of us trying to make flying a respectable profession. Crap suggestions about leaving and maybe getting a job sometime for less than half I am earning when CJ can replace me tomorrow is advice I do not need particularly as I enjoy working at CJ which I am sure upsets many of you!

Hifly it sounds like you and CJ deserve each other. I am glad you are staying at CJ. That means everyone else wont have to fly with you, you sound like a fucking knob.

Bottom line no matter how much the public loved/loves CanJet (I don't think theres been an airline operating in the East with as much customer loyalty as CanJet mustered in their short operation) there's going to be pissed off ex-employees and employees, screwing people out of a job, and not keeping people in the loop burns some bridges...

KR is a ruthless businessman, but he's also a damned good one, I was always told if C6 was ever losing money KR wouldn't wait he'd just slam the door shut, that's what he did.

Fact is still, with C6, or with his next airline, people will fly for him, the way CanJet went out in the publics view is about as professional as it could have been, and didn't leave a deep divide. A CanJet return to domestic market (Hopefully with a better suited aircraft for their routings) would be welcome by most from around here... except apparently a lot of her crews.

inverted, I think you're mostly right, but for when he'd shut the doors. I think CJ was bleeding for quite a while, but the threat of unions is what he slammed the door on. I'd bet he'd have slammed the door even if CJ had been profitable with unions.

CJ is such a crazy place. You'd think at least the CP and the DFO would have their act together.

Remember the time MZ & MM tried to fly nonstop from Halifax to St. Pete's on the St. Pete's inaugaral flight. They had a full pax load on the 737-200 truckasaurus. Almost flying on fumes with a heated disagreement between them (because KR was in the cabin and wanted to go nonstop). ... Ended up landing with 4,000 lbs of fumes! (not even enough for a safe go-around).

But hey, congrats! ... they did it nonstop. Scary.

some are unionized, but we don't know for sure if they were companies bought out that already had a workforce with a CB. Judging by the way he reacted to ALPA he doesn't have alot of experience with start up unions.

yes other parts of imp are unionized but some of the contracts he has are with governments and i would assume are predicated on having a stable workforce in place.so he playes nicer.or risk jeopardizing those contracts.
like the search and rescue contract for mtc.etc.Pilots are leaving other good companies for better opportunities so Canjets only difference is people are leaving faster.He never did say canjet was loosing money only that it wasnt performing as imp expects all his companys to.

Stop staring at the swinging pocket-watch, you're brainwashed. Either you were flying around with your ears plugged and your eyes closed or you don't work for CJ. I'm one of the last guys on the old seniority list and I got my "stand-by for further information" message from the Personnel office last week. I guess this means that they are quickly running out of guys and girls to recall and that initials are probably not that far away.

If recalled, I will be one of the ones to return for a couple of reasons:

1. I liked the people I flew with, they're a great bunch of guys/girls;
2. I enjoyed the 737-500's, although a little out of date, they're fun to fly;
3. I liked the schedule; and
4. I prefer to live in Halifax (or more accurately, my wife prefers to live in Halifax and I know that "when Momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy")

I am not going back because:

1. I am a moron;
2. I blindly believe that what KR tells the press is accurate;
3. I steadfastedly back up whatever management spews out; and
4. I'm so grateful to have a job that I'll do whatever I'm told just to stay in Halifax.

The decisions to work at CJ are individual and personal. I resent someone thinking I'm an idiot just because I choose to fly for KR. If recalled, I will be returning with both eyes, both ears and my mind open. I don't plan on making CJ my retirement plan with the present pension/dental plans available (I don't really think many are). I am also planning on keeping my options open for future opportunities, not putting all my eggs in the proverbial basket.

This has been a really hard time for those of us who found out one tuesday afternoon in September on the evening news that we no longer had jobs. I'm asking all the rabble-rousers to cut us a little slack.

Ok, my rant is now over. Back to my Keith's and lobster.

Sir you make good points but let me ask you something, do you think that Canjet has as good as a future as say Westjet for example. lets see.
1 great bunch of guys and gals to work with
2 737/700's not out of date and still a great airplane to fly.
3 better Sked with more days off. 15 gdo's i think
4 you can still live in YHZ as it is now a westjet port base. just goto the westjet on this site for more info.
also to add more money and way better benefits. plus they have a business plan that looks towards the future, profit sharing, etc. They've never gone out of business and their employee groups have a great relationship with management. all of these things canjet doesn't have. just something to think about.

Please dont start a "my airline is better that your airline" pissing match...christ we've heard it all before. We all know about the benefits at WJ (you keep telling us), we all know about the benefits of AC, we also know about the one or two benefits at CJ. We also know about the shortcomings at CJ (far longer list than the benefits).
Everyone has weighed them, struggled with them and stayed up nights reviewing all of them. Non of the answers were easy.

As a matter of fact I don't work for Westjet, if you read my first line i was giving him an option. I could of inserted any number of company names that all had the same four or five things that he said he liked about Canjet. So at the risk of saying mine is better than yours instead of westjet put in Air Canada, Jazz, Cathay, Jet Airways etc, they all should fill his reasons for living on the east coast.
If you read my previous posts I am pretty anti KR and what he did to those of us who worked there. This guy wasn't around for the 8 days off per month, no weekends, flying forward fairly ( old school cj'ers would know what this is), various lies and false promises made my management etc. He said that he was just getting the call now so was just showing him some options.

You sound stressed. All of us at AC/JAZZ ect. find your comments interesting. Irrelevent, but interesting none the less. Keep it up. If you cross paths with any of us "loosers" I'm sure we will have things to talk about. Its a small world, be carefull.
