That's great advice.

Moving on to the world of pop music, anyone who wants a career as an A-list celebrity pop star, should become one of those.

And in my latest self-help book, I give the following instruction to anyone who wants to be a successful Holywood movie star: "become one." It's a short book but I'm sure it will sell well.

Not really .... set it as a five year goal, talk to as many of those 100 as you can arrange to meet, interview them to find out how they got there, do an inventory of your skills and qualifications and enthusiastically correct the shortcomings.

While doing it, keep in touch with as many of the 100 as you can talk into being a mentor and then keep doing what is needed.

It's my five year goal to have a no.1 hit, but Miley Cyrus won't take my calls.

Judging by the length of time this aviation prof ad: http://www.senecacollege.ca/careers/currentcareers.html has been up, I don't know that the supply side of the market is quite on par with pop-stars or NHL players. If you really want to have a nice middle-class existence as a pilot working in flight training in Canada... You can, if you're willing to work towards that.

I was contacted by a recruiter last year about the Seneca position. It's tempting if that's the route you want to go! They had an additional requirement for a Bach degree, but have since dropped it.
Pay is great- it's a salaried position equal to your average King Air Capt. Mon-Fri only. Full benefits and something like 4+ weeks vaca a year as well. They're having a hard time filling it right now but I bet if things slow down they'll have a lineup.

When are things going to slow down? Air Canada alone will need approximately 800 pilots in the next 6 years. Someone else I talked to said within 4 years they'll be hiring right out of flight school!!
