A Super Connie. I kid you not. I think I was seven or eight. I still have the "Junior Clipper Captain" wings the Captain gave me. I sat on the guys lap "ever seen a grown man naked, Billy?"...LOL. and steared the thing. Pretty sure the auto-pilot was on though. And I dont remember seeing a CRT anywhere!
First flight was on a 150....CF-SSN.....wonder where she is today???

Don't remember my first flight, but it was in a cadet glider at Belleville (CNU4).

As for the rest:

First solo (1998): Schweizer 2-33A C-FQON at Picton (CNT7)

First Powered Solo (2000) - C-172M C-FHIH at Centralia (CYCE)

PPL Flight Test (2000) - C-172M C-GBNB at Centralia

My first ride was in an RCAF C-47 at the Regina airport but my first flying lesson was on an Air Cadet scholarship on June 28,1959 in a Cessna 140 CF-HJM.
I just checked the civil aircraft register and I see that registration is still being used and it looks like it is a decertified airplane.
Does anyone in the Bellwood Ontario area know of the airplane?
And could you post a picture of it.
Still a soft spot for the old girl.
My first airplane.

Mine was the same as YYZ's. Classic man, that was the stubby version of the DC-9 I think. I had the fire station too.

I'm assuming the registration didn't get used on more than 1 Cessna 140. It doesn't sound like there's too much left of what you flew.

http://www.eaa.org/homebuilders/list/Be ... teeves.asp

"In July of 1998 "Jezabelle" was wrecked on her way to Oshkosh (her 3rd time). Landing for fuel in Indiana, the tailwheel bracket broke sending her groundlooping into a drainage ditch.

Owners Fred Hawkins and Buzz Steeves decided to rebuild her as there was not much left to salvage anyway.

After five years and many modifications later, a new airplane emerged from Buzz's shop in Belwood Lake, Ontario. A determination inspection revealed that Fred and Buzz had built more of the airplane than Cessna did qualifying for Amateur Built status.

Starting out as a 1947 Cessna 140, "Jezabelle" is now a 2003 Belwood Classic.

Many thanks to all those who helped get her flying again. "Jezabelle" is being flown as a tribute to the memory of Fred T. Hawkins who lost his life in a farm accident shortly after flying off her restrictions."

One of the first planes I flew was C-GDVI, nick named "queen bee", it was a PA28-140 owned by PAL back in the day. I ran into the new owner of her in Buttonville, a nice fella who is giving her a good home.
Has a new paint job, and a few new toys.

Cheers

Grimey, you just made my day with those pictures. I don't know why one particular airplane was so special among the hundreds of airplanes I have flown but it is just great to see that old airplane still active and flying.
Thank you!!

First Flight DHC2 Beaver on floats registered CF-OBH owned by the Provincial Air Service at Sudbury Ontario when I was a JR in 1966.
First lesson was in a 172 registered CF-NUT owned by the Brampton Flying Club in 1969. That registrtion was perhaps a precursor of things to come!
