Re: Equipment required for VFR

On first read I'm thinking oh no I need to add a column that has DV, NV, DI, and or NI in. But then of course I reread and see that part 2 is only required for logs required by part 1. All my recency is covered by six month simulator sessions except for single engine recency requirements so I think I'll add that column and keep track of flight conditions for single engine flying. Thanks photofly.

On the other hand, there's no penalty available to TC for a breach of 401.08(1) or 401.08(2) so I guess it doesn't make a difference how you interpret the rule or what you log.

Enforcement or no, I'd like my log to be legal.

I'm going to add a column to record "flight conditions". It's pretty pathetic how easy it is to figure out for previous flights too. Eastbound is DNI, Westbound is DI :D.

And back to the original question, since a radio is NOT required equipment for basic vfr, all the blather regarding how you report an ETA is just that, more blather, cuz the aircraft in question is probably NORDO anyways.

Even less reason to need a timepiece, then...
