It’s not surprising who is complaining loudest and the least respectfully about my proposal.
The Echo chamber is right there. Always the same trolls.
Yeah, forgive me, I get a wee emotional when the same people personally pile on to make fun of pilots who die in accident threads…….on a personal level, not their PDM —- and then send me vile, disgusting DM’s when I publicly call them out for it.
I value life. Had too many people I’ve known, die.
I respect whatever decision on this issue the leadership makes.

I would suspect that at any given time people are like myself where I only log in if I want to post something. Avcanada also isn't frequented by a majority of Canada's pilot population. I would guess that less than 10% of active pilots in this country know about it, and only a small portion of those are active on it. That's in line with every other forum I've frequented, and most see similar or lower numbers.digits_ wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2023 12:54 pmMost people visit AvCanada for the job ads. On most forums only a few vocal people make suggestions like Rookie's, which clearly isn't what the majority want from a forum experience. Any forum I have seen that does try that model quickly dies on the vine.
I'm not sure what's more depressing: That everyone has a price, or how low the price always is.

Gawd
I’m a long time lurker on here. GA pilot ppl. Mostly to read the bullshit arguments and feel better about my lame life. If I want civil and informative GA forms I use the American owners type forms. Rookie is one of the main reasons I hardly ever come on here anymore. He seems to be deeply involved in all the worst threads I have read.
If you’re so butt hurt maybe just stay away……It works for me.

Gee rookie you can use a search function.
Not sure what you’re trying to lamely imply but whatever it is, it’s fitting to your persona. Jerk

And this, complaining about your family’s airline flights.

I don’t know you. I haven’t interacted with you ever. I’d certainly block you if that was available. But don’t dish it out if you don’t want your own history looked up.
Don’t get yourself killed son, doing anything remotely to do with IFR in a hurry. Or anyone else.

Oooh. That’s rich coming from the likes of you. I seem to have found the block feature very easily. You’re my first one.

Re: GA Pilots: Make your voices heard. Block Function
I have been on Avcanada longer than most. I changed my handle a few years ago after I swore off this site mainly because of posters like Rookie. I find myself responding to threads often in a rude or unhelpful manner...then I erase what I wrote and don't bother to write anything else. My way of trying to make things a little better I guess (it's not easy sometimes).
Regardless, I have met a very good friend because of this website who also helped me get a job without having even met me. That will be, for me, the best thing about AvCanada.
I voted no btw. Would be nice to have a little more civility on here but censorship is not the answer.

We now have multiple people referencing Rookie as their main reason for not using or engaging any further. This has clearly not gone the way he expected. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if most of the "yes" votes come from his alt accounts. Unfortunately, this will not lead to any self reflection whatsoever as its more than obvious he sees himself as the beacon of truth on a dark stormy night.

How do you define primarily? Am I still actively involved in GA? Yes! Have I flown more GA types than you? Just about guarantee it! Do I have more GA hours than you? Absolutely! But even if I didn't have any of those qualifiers. The fact that you feel free to yap about professional pilot matters without having ever been one, I believe would give me the freedom to do the same about GA.
Re: GA Pilots: Make your voices heard. Block Function
Folks,
Maybe it is time to have a poll for a system wide block function on Rookie(even if we would never actually follow through on it).
Based on the replies, it appears that he IS the problem and the reason more people are not posting. I will give him credit for outing himself though.
And now he is attacking me on another thread in the same style that he criticizes here.

Re: GA Pilots: Make your voices heard. Block Function
First off; If you think this site is bad now, your head would have imploded if you were here in its heyday in the early 2000s.
Second; GA mentoring GA leads to negative dynamic stability.

If the block function were to be implemented, it's very likely you would see a blank page, and you can just write whatever you want and nobody would see it. And I bet you'd still find a reason to complain...

Digits you’re now dangerous close to trolling just because you disagree.
You can say all you want “nobody mocked the PA 32 pilot, his occupation his passengers, family or faith”.
You’re not entitled to make up your own facts. It happened, multiple posters, and this site cheered it on until I had it shut down. Ghouls.
The poster above just referenced the pilot’s wife on the accident thread. Where is the line here? Gonna send her an email telling her how stupid her husband is? WTF is wrong with you people? You’d never put up with this if it was a commercial pilot. Not a chance.
If I EVER personally mock a dead pilot, who they are as a person vs their decision process, i invite you to call me out.
This is 100% about that issue alone.

Not sure if there is that many General aviation pilots only in this forum though...
But why restrict your topic to this particular group?
Re: GA Pilots: Make your voices heard. Block Function
I guess anyone whom flies "commercially" is a prick, an asshole, and automatically falls under the category of troll - unless proven otherwise.
So... does the GA only thing mean that no one with a CPL or above is allowed to comment? Are the "forums" now going to be restricted to those whom produce their medical certificate and an SPP/GPL/ULP/RPP/GYP/PPL, etc., et el?

Use the foe setting instead of the moronic or public service announcement comments about aircraft safety.Unless, of course, one of the groups on your enemy list is "quoted."
