Looking at the court case against TD, good chance skylink won't exist in a few months/weeks. They *need* UPS to up the rates but seems they are not budging and a sale of assets is the most likely outcome
Re: SkyLink pilot union takes pay cut & b scale
Rumors are starting to flow that they were not able to renew the contract and UPS has gone with someone else - that they are now finished.newlygrounded wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2024 9:43 am Looking at the court case against TD, good chance skylink won't exist in a few months/weeks. Good luck to all those out there.

No need for rumors, check the court documents yourself they're on the ccaa website, I'm wondering who got the UPS contract and can afford to do it for as little as they were paid.boeingboy wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 5:07 pmRumors are starting to flow that they were not able to renew the contract and UPS has gone with someone else - that they are now finished.newlygrounded wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2024 9:43 am Looking at the court case against TD, good chance skylink won't exist in a few months/weeks. The lesson here folks, next time take a bigger pay cut and you might be able to save your company!
Shame on UPS for going to the lowest bidder, but they ALL do it.
How many of the current Skylink pilots plan to apply at the new lower paying(I assume) company?

Guess you didn't click the link and read the job posting.
Maybe the lowest bidder but with enough business elsewhere to help subsidize this operation. Beats the all-your-eggs-in-one-basket that Skylink was doing.Captain: $80,000 - $115,000 per year
F/O: $46,000 - $65,000 per year

You’re correct, I didn’t read the job posting however, it also hasn’t been confirmed it’s CMA doing the workPratt X 3 wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 9:06 am Guess you didn't click the link and read the job posting.Maybe the lowest bidder but with enough business elsewhere to help subsidize this operation. a lot of the runs were to northern Ontario from the eastern US, the job ads are for vancouver?Pratt X 3 wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 9:56 pm Maybe them?
Captains - B1900D Cargo - Vancouver
First Officers - B1900D Cargo - Vancouver
Re: SkyLink pilot union takes pay cut & b scale
Skylink flying for UPS out of BC wraps up at the end of May (today) with the exception of Nanaimo. That and the rest of the runs will end in July.newlygrounded wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 8:10 pma lot of the runs were to northern Ontario from the eastern US, the job ads are for vancouver?Pratt X 3 wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 9:56 pm Maybe them?

And UPS could award the contract to more than one company to cover the different bases that Skylink is flying out of now.

This post is extremely condescending. You’re blaming pilots for loss of work.cdnavater wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 7:25 am The lesson here folks, next time take a bigger pay cut and you might be able to save your company!

Pretty sure that was sarcasm
Re: SkyLink pilot union takes pay cut & b scale
Sorry, like other posters, I thought the sarcasm was obvious, however that’s certainly the lesson big corporations want us to learn. If you’re too expensive we will go elsewhere.CaptDukeNukem wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 10:36 pmThis post is extremely condescending. I wholeheartedly believe this is the threat Encore is facing, not exactly the same, I believe the CEO of WJ who has a history of closing up Q400 operations is threatening to do the same to them if they don’t play ball.
The last question was me pondering out loud I guess, pilots are our own worst enemy, I have literally been told if I didn’t do it, he could find 10 pilots tomorrow who would.
Good luck to the Skylink pilots, I do hope they find better employment.

Thank you! That slipped my mind, I wonder who here has the capacity but also magically would turn a profit at what UPS is payingPratt X 3 wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 9:30 pmSkylink flying for UPS out of BC wraps up at the end of May (today) with the exception of Nanaimo.
