Fortunately there are trillions upon trillions of gallons of water that evaporate from the 75% of the earth's surface that is covered by oceans and are then dropped on our countryside annually. Losing a few million to recover rotting dinosaurs is inconsequential.CID wrote:the_professor,
The water that is pumped into the ground to recover the crude oil stays underground. It's taken out of the "rotation" so to speak and no longer available to contribute to the water cycle.
However, maybe this could become the Next Big Crisis to shift the focus off of "human-induced climate change". There's always got to be something to keep the masses distracted, and this is just one more example...
Then again, if there's more ice melting because of climate change, that means there's more water for us to plow underground, right?
