How long til the Kids are flying at Jazz?

Thanks. I know what you mean by there being nothing like it left in Toronto. There used to be some real good house clubs back in the day. Remember Gotham City. Man I'm getting old.

Oh yeah, sorry for the hijack. And now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

RB, I don't want to keep this going further either.

I see where you are coming from, I agree. given the proper training and if you hire the right people etc. Sure, you can make airline pilots out of college grads. If it worls at BA why not at JAzz, AC, etc.?

I think what you are saying is that the airline has brought this on themselves and I can't really comment on that.

That is where I am coming from, If you can grasp that. I can go on further but I don't see any point in doing so.

Met one the college guys yesterday doing a Fam flight. Very young, with clipboard in hand to take notes. Yikes. Language may be an issue as he was very French.

You will be able to tell they have arrived on line very easily.

Just look for the words "JAZZ" and "ACCIDENT" on the front
page of the Star and you can be sure they are on line now

I saw an FO, who couldn't have been older than 20, at Tim Horton's in the terminal the other day. I think he was ordering a hot chocolate because he was too young to drink coffee.

You don't have to be old and grey to fly in an airline. Give the new guys a "fair" chance to prove themselves. The good thing about flying here in Europe is you can get a flight deck with two pilots under 30.

Sorry ..of this comes out the wrong way..

Why are college students seen as best of the best in today's aviation community? Whats wrong with the student who works his/her ass off at university while working the ramp to pay for a degree and flight school?Do these students not deserve for a seat with Jazz?

From personal experience, they seem to have a bit more appreciation for the license and industry which they work in.

I'm sick of being told by FTU's that because i've worked the ramp, gone to university and done some aviation related volunteer work that i'm crap compared to a college grad. The industry seems to think this as well..

This isn't to say that these students don't have skills or are all jackasses ..which isn't the case..

Your just as good a pilot as any college grad, no worries. That being said NO 250 hour pilot should be getting hired at Jazz. IMHO anyway.

I'd much rather head up north, bag some serious PIC time, move up through the ranks so to speak and then and only then hit the 705s.

it's going to be all about public perception. How will Joe Public react to seeing a guy as young as 19 sitting in any seat of a jet aircraft, regardless of the quality of training? Even at 35 years old, with no grey hair and no hairline issues, I still get the occasional passenger ask me if i'm old enough to 'fly this thing'; or the ever observant passenger who pokes his head into the flight deck 'just checking for grey hair' as he boards.

This is already getting media coverage, and I think we're going to see alot more, along with the negative connotations.

Canpilot, your going to have a ball up north. Seriously it's the best time I've had in this industry. Great people shitty locations, it's the stuff you'll laugh at down the road while at FLwhatever flying someing thats flying you. Have fun, fly safe!!!

Although i'm not having much luck, i'm sure things will turn. Its sucks having close to 500TT..nobody wants ya!
