The reductions in flying was expected as the completion of phase one of the LNG project in Northern BC was known years ago, ask anyone in the oil patch. They've been looking/bidding on for new work for a long time.

Also, the NWT diamond mines are o the final leg, thought I read other week the Diavik site is slated for closure this year and Ekati got a couple of years production left. I did contact work for both those a few years back. Plenty of money around then.

Investment has been leaving Canada for a decade. If our O&G exports to the US are displaced by Venezuelan oil, we are in serious trouble (and I don't just mean charter airlines).

There is potentially about to be an exodus of 737 pilots from CDN North (FO's in particular) given the loss of charter/sked flying, layoffs and uncertain future direction under EIC. In the past year, a DFO, a CP and the VP of Flt Ops have all left 5T as well.

Except it hasn’t.
It’s been leaving oil and gas in Canada as well as the rest of the world because it has the same long term outlook as tobacco and asbestos.

To quote an AI search....."As Qatar moves to double its liquified natural gas (LNG) production capacity from 77 million to 142 million tons per annum by 2030, the country's economic landscape is entering a new phase of transformation"
For those of you getting laid off because you believed the lies of people like Bob.......all I can say is I told you so over a decade ago and you were foolish enough to vote for Qatar getting our wealth.
Enjoy the lower standard of living.
