I realize this is an old post, however, in case dockjock still has not got his facts figured out, Ntair employs 4 full time engineers. They do major o'hauls and ongoing maintenance in the YXS hangar on Nt operated aircraft. Ntair is the major revenue generator between the two companies, without it, cma would be in problems. Just ask anyone in cma mgmt.Dockjock wrote:I wonder how profitable CMA could actually be if they stopped doing free maintenance on NTair's entire fleet? If this neat little arrangement to funnel profit through NT and thus keep CMA perpetually cash poor was rectified I'm sure we could all make more money. Question: does Thunderbird employ ANY of its own engineers?
CMA: Congratulations and apologies.

Pilot wages are generally low in this country. Period. Why? Too many pilots for the available jobs. If Canadian pilots chose to organize, they might change that, but that hasn't happened, and likely won't. The only thing that will change wages in this country is a drastic pilot shortage, IMHO. Until then, aspiring professional pilots had better examine closely their chosen career path, and either accept what is or go elsewhere.
It's easy to grandstand and criticize CMA for their pay scale. But my personal experience with their crews is that most of them seem really happy, and I have received nothing but encouragement to join up when I can. CMA hires first-rate people, I mean really classy types who are an absolute pleasure to work with. And CMA captains all seem to wind up at Westjet or AC at some point. Those carriers like to hire them because they are SHARP. (All that IFR time with no autopilot probably helps.) I want to fly for CMA because I really like their crews, and I think that I can become a truly proficient pilot doing the kind of flying they do.
These are just my opinions. Perhaps they will change with time. But right now I can't stand by and watch a bunch of trash talk about Central Mountain Air and my friends who choose to fly for them. Congrats on the 328. It's nice to see that on the ramp, but even better to see it in the air.

Understanding begets harmony; in seeking the first you will find the last.
No, they will tell a lie, I am referring to anyone who is in mgmt and has objective access to the books. Nt had huge gross revenue last year and will continue to do so. That is not a lie.pika wrote:They won't tell a lie. Honest. They're great people...Just ask anyone in cma mgmt.
