Now there's an interesting idea ... how about changing the rules so that a maximum of 500 hours of either instructor or co-pilot time could be applied towards the 1500 ATPL?
The
other 1000 hours would have to be real PIC time, such as sole occupant, cross-country, etc.
Giving someone an ATPL because they've watched someone else fly an airplane, makes about as much sense as accrediting someone as a gynocologist because they watch a lot of porn!
I'm sure this idea is gonna float about as well as a lead balloon!
