Poverty is a relative subjective opinion, based on ones exposure to the world.

There are many places on this earth where the poorest citizens in Thompson would be considered as rich beyond their wildest dreams.

The problem in Thompson and many other northern towns in not a money issue, it is a social issue.

Never the less that does not justify the way some of Thomsons citizens exist...

And I for one do not have the faintest idea of how to do anything to change that society.

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no

After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

And if you want to go the next 3 years of your life without a g/f move to Thompson. Some guys you meet will brag about how many girls they can pick up at The River with Hubba Bubba, and even put you down for your lack of desire to do the same.
With a nick name "No Nuts" maybe this is where your problem lies. Who are these people that put you down for not doing the same ?
One thing I did notice is the people who did enjoy Thompson were either blind to all the poverty and suffering that was constantly around them
I can't say I enjoyed "Thompson" all that much but it was well worth all the friends I have made. All this self righteousness coming from you makes me sick. Maybe you are bitter about all the ass kissing you did and how it all went to pot with your former employer.

As for C-HRIS....good luck up there, you will makes lots of great friends and have lots of stories to tell afterward. Don't mind the nay sayers because its all sour grapes in their eyes.Your are just going there for a job and to get a start flying and take it as that and make the best of a not so great place. For the purpose it serves YTH is not the worst place to start out. As for the poverty and crime, be like Ludachris and talk about how "everyone" else is blind to it and make a difference up there like he did.....

Exactly. If it was a money issue, the drunk tank wouldn't fill up every time welfare, status, or baby bonus cheques came in. The people have money (they're by no means rich, and live well below the poverty line, but for the most part they have money), what they don't have is jobs, education, or a will to have a better life. And it's not because they're poor, it's because of the culture they were raised in, and the attitude of our government towards them.

And yes, big cities have these problems too, but not all of Ottawa looks like Vanier.

no sig because apparently quoting people in context is offensive to them.

Wow, Ludacris,
Just re-read your post. With your low level of tolerance, never seek any ex-pat work, you might discover that racism is part of the world. We in Canada may pretend it doesn't exist, but to me this is PC BS. It is everywhere, but in different places different actions are taken. Killing of foreigners is common in many countries, with beating being the mildest of violence.
Actually I have a sister that has been teaching for seventeen years in Thompson, and she loves it. She got used to black eyes and beaten children, but again it is also common in Toronto.
Welcome to the real world!

Go well prepared for the drive on highway 6. It's a long and lonely road. Finding a crash pad shouldn't be a problem; just ask around. As for YTH....once you start to believe that Bacco's is actually a good restaurant, it's definitely time to leave.

Hey Baaco's was terrible, i did eat there from time to time. Usually with a certain Dutch perimeter pilot who loved the place for some reason. By the way "I LOVE GOOOOOOOOOOOLD". But nothing tops eggs benny from roadside with homemade toast the size of a house. No wonder i'm so damn big.......
