Next course tentatively set for Feb 9th.
Looks like 6 DH8 and 6 Q400 positions for now. Not sure about the RJ.
Sim evals ongoing through January and February. Keep you stuff updated.

Would I be correct in saying Jazz is the only Tier 1 or 2 carrier in Canada that does sim Evaluations as part of the interview? If so, why?

Having done both the Jazz and AC interviews, I'd say that the Sim Eval at Jazz gives the recruiters a better sense of your piloting abilities than AC's psych test that asks if you like flowers or are afraid of clowns.hithere wrote:Would I be correct in saying Jazz is the only Tier 1 or 2 carrier in Canada that does sim Evaluations as part of the interview? Re: Any hiring news??
Experience has shown that pilots that have technical difficulty with the initial type course tend to have training and PPC difficulty on an ongoing basis. Best way to assess basic flying ability, IFR competency, crew concept, and fundamental personality compatibility is a sim eval. And given that applicant experience levels are declining precipitously, a few assessment dollars spent up front could potentially save tens of thousands of training dollars later.
Re: Any hiring news??
I'd be curious if being afraid of clowns and liking flowers would disqualify you from operating in an airline competently. Or the other way.DHC-1 Jockey wrote:Having done both the Jazz and AC interviews, I'd say that the Sim Eval at Jazz gives the recruiters a better sense of your piloting abilities than AC's psych test that asks if you like flowers or are afraid of clowns.hithere wrote:Would I be correct in saying Jazz is the only Tier 1 or 2 carrier in Canada that does sim Evaluations as part of the interview? Re: Any hiring news??
Anyone did the sim eval in early dec and heard anything from jazz yet?
Re: Any hiring news??
If the next tentative date is Feb 9th would people being Sim Eval'd this month have a chance of making into that class or would those candidates already be somewhat pre chosen as per sim evals conducted in Nov/Dec?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: Any hiring news??
I've gotta say that lately I've been flying with some of the newest FO's in the Company, and they're without a doubt some of the best pilots I've ever flown with. That includes my tenure at "Jazz/former-well-known-connector". This "Flowers and Clowns" thing is working very, very well.DHC-1 Jockey wrote:Having done both the Jazz and AC interviews, I'd say that the Sim Eval at Jazz gives the recruiters a better sense of your piloting abilities than AC's psych test that asks if you like flowers or are afraid of clowns.hithere wrote:Would I be correct in saying Jazz is the only Tier 1 or 2 carrier in Canada that does sim Evaluations as part of the interview? Keep it up AC.

Re: Any hiring news??
Hi all- just wondering if anyone going through the hiring process has heard anything regarding the upcoming February ground school? Has anyone been contacted yet for it? Thanks.

Re: Any hiring news??
What report did you read?Krimson wrote:Why would anyone want to board a sinking ship?
Someone once said:
"If you have the chance at any flying job, take it right away. You will progress your career a lot quicker than holding out for anything in particular at that stage."
Reference: Krimson, not so long ago.
Most pilots go to Jazz then move to AC or WestJet. What stage are you at?
Re: Any hiring news??
Not a sinking ship necessarily but not a career airline anymore. Shrinking the fleet by 1/3 means you'll never make left seat. The top dogs on the list at Jazz will not be going to AC and starting their careers over again.
DEI = Didn’t Earn It
Re: Any hiring news??
This is what I meant. Maybe sinking ship is a bad term, but for a new hire, there is not a lot to offer. There are better options out there now.Not a sinking ship necessarily but not a career airline anymore. Shrinking the fleet by 1/3 means you'll never make left seat. I still stand by my statement of taking a flying job right away rather than holding out, but I would assume if you are applying for Jazz, you already have one.
Re: Any hiring news??
So rumors are what they are but apparently the next course maybe push back to the 23th of Feb instead of the 9th feb. Does any one have some more precise information ? I am tired to jump on my phone any time he rings
!
Re: Any hiring news??
How long does it take Jazz to get back to you after you've had an interview? I had one last week, and am waiting by the phone to hear about a sim eval.
Re: Any hiring news??
Any word on a February groundschool? Also, how long is the hiring pool wait?
Re: Any hiring news??

Re: Any hiring news??
There is going to be tons of hiring going forward.
32 new hires a month for the next 3 months at least.

Re: Any hiring news??
We just found out that the block hours are up from last year and the biggest obstacle to the flow through passed tonight and monday we will start the process of flowing guys out. Theres going to be lots of movement from the top down, we are scheduled to lose 10 RJs this year as the new Qs come on but with oil so low that could be delayed. If I had to guess I would say lots of Q400 YYC and some YYZ Q400 and classic. Could be some YYC jet stuff too. I highly doubt any YVR spots in the near future will be going to new hires.
