Try reading Section 7 of the Charter. Life, Liberty and Security of the Person. Forcing a jab for employment clearly violates this section.
An ideologically captured court says so..... I don't care what the supreme Court says, and evidentially, in many cases neither does the Canadian government.
Any human being with common sense can see that placing duress on someone to take an untested vaccine to maintain employment, travel freely in the country, receive healthcare in many cases, etc, etc is a violation of section 7 of the charter. It's even more egregious in a profession like ours that has strict medical standards that exclude an entire swath of pharmaceuticals until their side effects are well documented.
That's why I left Canada, where rights are granted, and taken away on a whim. The problem with Canada isn't actually the government. They are but a symptom of moral and ethical decline of Canadian Culture. You all have the government you deserve.
Your turn is next. You've all given license to the Canadian Government to treat you however they want without recourse.

Just because something is legal, doesn't make it right. What the government did was unethical, a breach of traditional public health, and everyone should be angry.
Agreed. I think what the government did was heavy handed. All I'm saying is that the judges who interpret the Charter disagree that it's a Charter violation. Maybe if I was a judge I'd rule differently than they did, but I'm not a judge, nor, to my knowledge, is anyone here.

Bede, you are a smart guy. I've seen your comments on here for years. I'm pretty sure we use to work together. Why do people still defer to authority like you just did?
When will people say, enough is enough? Or is that just not the Canadian way? Do you have a personal limit when you will just disobey the government, the court etc? What would they have to do to make you say NO MORE!
Obviously wages are a huge issue, but thats all anyone hears about - but I'm wondering if you guys have come to agreements on other parts of your contract such as schedules, GDO's, the stupid flat pay, and whatever other areas you need improvement in.

We have a general idea but no specifics. A lot of things appear to have agreements however there are a couple big ones left. The main one being pay. I know that doesn’t really answer your question but that’s all we really know.

I think this is the latest update on what been TA’d or not.
The union did an outstanding job building unity within the group. We are united and we are strike ready. The end of the story will be depend us. The government will intervene at some point, but that wont mather, the airplanes wont fly until we have the contract we deserve.

This is the exact mindset we need. We can report at work. But noone will force us to fly a plane under duress
Just adding my two cents without having read all 21 pages, but the era of pilots and other skilled workers drinking the kool-aid and working at a discount out of "passion" needs to end. You are worth what you negotiate, and being paid well is not something to be ashamed of. Do doctors, lawyers, executives and other highly paid professionals hate their jobs? Why don't they do it at a discount like pilots are expected to? Why don't their organizations use the same bullshit tactics with them? Because they don't put up with it.
The modern economic climate dictates that negotiation and hardball are necessary aspects of any deal. The days of managers and executives laughing all the way to the bank on the backs of skilled labour is over. With the internet, we've all wised up to the "Neutron-jack" style management of gutting everything for executive pay and stock buybacks. It doesn't work.
Airplanes aren't hamburgers, and pilots/mechanics/engineers aren't burger flippers. The braindead MBA "cost-cutting" doesn't work in aviation. It's time to grow up.

Exactly. I’ll release the parking brake when I’M ready.
JT has political cover because of the position of PP and CPC, JS and NDP. The Bloc doesn’t give a FK either side. That’s why JT has told the Business Group as well as AC top executives who were clamouring for “ binding arbitration “ this isn’t going to happen as collective bargaining is the route.
Golden opportunity has been given to AC Pilots to get what they certainly deserve. Go for it.
